Re: Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Vs. Call Of Duty World At War
I love MW2 and I play it at least an hour a night every night since release date and don't see myself letting up anytime soon. This game is extremely fun. I'm sick of the comparisons to MW1 and people complaining of how great MW1 is. If It's so great stop playing MW2 and go back to it. These are 2 different games. Yes with the same title but I think a lot of people were expecting MW2 to me the same as MW1 just with new maps because they were so comfortable with the game.
And to the guy who said he traded it in the very next day, why? Did you not know anything about the game before it came out? You didn't know all the killstreaks were in? Were you expecting MW1 just with better graphics or something. At least give the game more then a day's chance so you can truly tell rather it is garbage or not. 1 day is hardly enough to go on.
I personally am enjoying MW2 a lot more then MW1.
After five days of sales, the game had earned revenue figures of $550 million worldwide. As of January 18, 2010, it has taken over $1 billion in sales.["on hoping there is a PSN flash sale before Valentine's Day"

Re: Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Vs. Call Of Duty World At War
I don't see how anyone could actually say the shooting is better in this newest version. I think it's valid if you like the look/maps/perks etc better in 2, but I think it's pretty much a fact that the shooting took a fairly major step back. WAW's shooting is better too, which is why even though I'm not big on ww2, I'm looing forward to the next cod since I'm pretty sure they won't muck with the shooting.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

Re: Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Vs. Call Of Duty World At War
that's a bad argument because the sales of 2 piggyback of the success of 1. If 1 was crap, 2 wouldn't have sold nearly as much. There are many things better about 2...but the shooting is/was better in 1 without a doubt. The bullets actually had to travel instead of it being like an instantaneous laser-beam like it is now. Because shooting is core to the game, I felt better satisfaction shooting someone and killing them in 1.

I think it still boils down to what your personal preference isComment

Re: Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Vs. Call Of Duty World At War
do you like that you shoot a moving target exactly in your sights?
I think you should have to lead someone sprinting across your field of view. I think they took some of the skill out of shooting and dumbed it down a bit - but at the same time it's a bit harder for me personally because it's counter intuitive and I always start off leading someone out of instinct.
I know it comes down to preference, but taking away some of the complexity of shooting knocks it down. They made it much more basic and old-school which = not as good to me.
edit: the best way for me to describe this is that they went from killing people with bullets to killing people with the gun sights.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

I have a lot of issues with the acual gameplay (notice more as i have gotten better) but i still enjoy playing the game. Mainly because this is my one fps for a long time. Im not going to get battlefield (probably should) so this is it and im happy enough with it.Comment

Re: Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Vs. Call Of Duty World At War
Due to the fact that Call of duty WaW was my first Call of Duty game, it get my vote as my favorite one. I bought MW1 after WaW was stolen by my uncle(basterd lol) and i enjoyed it, but not like WaW. Then I bought MW2, Best one of them all. I like it just as much as WaW. So if you could guess you'd probably say i still own WaW (bought it again 3 days ago with map pack 2&3) and i still own MW2.Comment

Just cause it sold more doesn't mean its better. I think MW2 is a really good game, but the multiplayer is very unbalanced, and has some things that are just silly (akimbo shotguns), and is generally less skill based than MW1.Comment

Re: Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Vs. Call Of Duty World At War
I will say that it is obviously easier to rack up kills in MW2 with the killstreaks but that works both ways. You can have either a great game using your 3 killstreaks or a miserable game getting pounded my the enemy killstreaks.
I don't think multiplayer is unbalanced at all in any COD game for that matter. If some idiot is running around with akimbo shotguns there are ways to counter then. They are dangerous close range but catch them in a medium or long range situation and they have no chance. Any perk or gun anyone uses there is something you can use against them. No 1 gun or perk dominates this game.Last edited by Buckeyes_Doc; 02-23-2010, 07:13 PM.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

How is it less skill based? In MW1 you could pick up a M16 and throw some grenades and you were all set.

MW2 is a very fun game and I still play it, I just believe that MW1 is more skill based and fairer multiplayer game.Comment

There is a larger skill gap in MW1 because the guns in MW1 actually had recoil and you had to burst fire to be accurate. In MW2, you can hold down the trigger on most the guns and suffer very little recoil and accuracy loss. Some of the perks and the massive amount of killstreaks in MW also contribute to it being less skill based.

And there are only a few guns that have no recoil. ACR and SCAR are probably the easiest to use and fit in to what you are saying but thats only 2 guns not most. Not sure what guns you are using but if I hold down the fire button to long I'm spraying bullets all over the place.
I'm not saying MW2 is perfect and I would love to see commando go and akimbo go but MW1 had its problems just like WAW did.
Like I said in MW1 grenades were way too powerful and everyone used the same gun..M16 in my experience at least.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

Re: Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Vs. Call Of Duty World At War
i loved MW1 too but it it had its share of problems just like this one. first of all it was a damn grenade fest. EVERYONE used the MARTYDOM perk, and at the start of the match if you threw a grenade across the map you were almost guaranteed a kill. the sniping was so bad in the original game that they had to patch that.

Re: Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Vs. Call Of Duty World At War
MW2 is primarily multi-player based as the campaign is poorly made and confusing, not to mention how short it is. It just seems like the game was made in a rush as there are too many glitches and the rationale behind some decisions (commando knife perk, akimbo shotguns...seriously?) shows that not enough thought was put behind it.
I'm still a fan of MGS and believe it trumps all COD games.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.
It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment

Re: Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Vs. Call Of Duty World At War
lmao. yeah its less of a game because it sold more. and its not like it only sold a few hundred more, its millions more. i already stated my mistake in that its 1 billion in SALES but has sold over 16 million copies already.

there is plenty of recoil in MW2. I dont even use the sub machine guns like the MP5 anymore cuz the recoil is much worse than in the first one. u every used the RPD? i cant even shoot straight with that damn thing. lol
Compare the recoils of the assault rifles in MW1 and 2, there is a big difference.
Both games had there problems and to each his own, but I enjoyed MW1 more cause I think it is more competitive and skill based than MW2. That is just my opinion, you obviously share a different one.Comment
