Dragon Warrior on the NES got me into RPGs, where before i just played adventure and puzzle games.

Duke Nukem 3d got me into shooters.

As the title suggests........for me it was Command & Conquer. That game really got me into the strategy genre. From there I went to the Civilization series, Age of Empires, Starcraft

Yeah, same for me.

Of course Zelda got me into RPG's. Baulders Gate got me into PC RPG's. Wolfenstein got me into FPS, and the list goes on and on.

Only played sports games until COD4 came out. Now im hooked on shooters.

Hmm...

For me, it was FF7 for RPGs, and COD2 for shooters. I had played mostly sports titles for the longest. Now it seems I've become a video game addict. So much for that whole "grown-up" thing...lol.

I'll take the obvious route and say that the original Guitar Hero not only sparked my interest in music games, but into music in general. I wouldn't have had the interest to learn how to play a real guitar if not for Guitar Hero.

Iron Storm on the Sega Saturn got me into Strategy War games...I spent many hours with that game.
