Re: Dead Space 2
Demo coming December 21
Dive into engineer Isaac Clarke’s blood-curdling adventure five weeks before release as Visceral Games™, a studio of Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:ERTS) today announced a demo for the critically-acclaimed action horror game, Dead Space™2. The demo, available worldwide beginning December 21st, will allow players to discover the Church of Unitology and help Isaac defeat the Necromorph outbreak in a gruesome, unforgiving battle on The Sprawl. Winner of GameSpot’s highly-coveted ‘Best Xbox 360 Game’ of E3 award, Dead Space 2 will deliver the first big blockbuster title of 2011 when the title ships this January.
In the Dead Space 2 demo, players will take engineer Isaac Clarke on a terrifying adventure through the Church of Unitology, an expectedly “safe” place that quickly becomes dangerous and deadly, during the Necromorph outbreak on the Sprawl. Players will also have access to a variety of new tools that Isaac can use to fight Necromorphs, including the new Javelin gun, updated stasis recharge mechanic and enhanced telekinesis ability. Players will also experience the advanced suit, equipped with jets that will allow Isaac full 3600 control in Zero-G space.
“The holidays are a great time to enjoy all forms of entertainment, and we can’t wait to give horror and action adventure gamers a taste of what awaits them in Dead Space 2,” said Steve Papoutsis, Executive Producer of the Dead Space franchise. “Releasing the demo five weeks before launch will not only re-connect players with our hero Isaac Clarke, but will also give them the opportunity to experience firsthand various jaw-dropping scenarios. It’s gonna be awesome”
Dead Space 2 pushes the limits of action, horror and terror. After mysteriously awaking in a sprawling, massive city anchored to one of Saturn’s moons, hero Isaac Clarke again finds himself thrust into the middle of a relentless Necromorph outbreak. Surrounded by the screeching cries of undead monsters and the haunting drum of echoing noises, Isaac plots a course through The Sprawl. Dead Space 2 is set to deliver a truly **** terror experience that will bring the psychological thrills of deep space to a terrifyingly new level.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: Dead Space 2
OXM Review - 9.5
- Dead Space 2 is really a game made up of small masterfully executed touches. It’s a superb refinement of everything that made its predecessor a ticking time bomb of terror.
- Story recap video available from the main menu.
- The Sprawl was a bustling cityscape and the environments reflect that with the doleful plaints of trapped citizens pleading from behind locked doors in residential districts and discarded toys littering bloodied nursery school hallways. Though its no less tense than your adventures on the Ishimura it is a much more populated trip through hell and Isaac will meet up with a handful of characters whose motivations may or may not be what they seem.
- It’s a riveting if not particularly deep or think-y sci fi narrative and coupled with the games consistent forward push in pacing. It’ll leave you breathless through most of its 15 chapters. There’s not a single instance of back tracking through previous areas to bog down your progression and even though your given objectives by various characters throughout, you’ll never feel like your merely running errands or completing fetch quests as you sometimes did in the first game.
- Dead Space 2s multiplayer mode is the biggest departure from its single player only predecessor. Out of the box you’ll find team versus mode that puts up to four Sprawl security officers with a timed series of objectives against four human controlled Necromorphs. It’s a face paced variation on King of the Hill and Capture the Flag, but the results lets you play either side of the griefer (necromorphs) or griefee (humans) equation in lightning quick alternating rounds. And each of the five included maps is crafted with respawn-a-thon speed and teamwork in mind. Will it replace Black Ops or Halo Reach on your nightly playlist? Probably not for long, as what’s here is understandably smaller in scope and less flexible in terms of game and party customization then those xbox live juggernauts. But it’s the single player that you most likely came for anyway, so consider Dead Space 2s succinct suite of multiplayer options a small but tasty cherry atop a dazzling horror shooter sundae.
- + Smart refining of the horror shooter formula, filled with well paced insanity and surprises.
- + Lengthy, Gorgeous and scary as hell, vocal Isaac is a better hero.
- - Story gets a bit muddled toward the end; enemy placement grows predictable in spots.

Re: Dead Space 2
EDGE - 9
"DS2 isn't as tidily self-enclosed as its predecessor. Multiplayer stretches the experience, and a new harder-than-impossible mode resets players to their past save after each death, giving them only three saves to use along the way. It loses something of the tough-but-contained challenge of the first game, which offered a temptingly realistic shot at 100% completion and resonated with efficiency of presentation, gameplay and setting. But this is perhaps a fair price to pay for a wonderfully crafted sequel. The game's excellent controls and stream of grisly scares make it the current standard for survival horror, and it now boasts eruptions of blockbusting action that rival this generation's biggest games"Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: Dead Space 2
Here is some behind the scenes footage. Not sure what I think about the angle, will definitely get people talking though. Kind of lame. It may backfire on them.
