Are you serious. How many people had a album out as a 5 year? How many children were consider prodigy at age 5, cause yep Billie was. He even was on Good Morning America as 5 year old. Billie believe it or not is a musical genius. He was writing music like he write now back as a teenager and younger. So yes believe it or not they do put on a great show and Billie is a really good guitar player. In fact his teacher back then was a guy name George Cole who is pretty famous in his own right and was a student of Joe S. So you can laugh all you want, but that is facts and the Truth about Billie Joe Armstrong. Also Billie is a hell of a entertainer on stage. So is Tool, but I am telling you Tool is no better or no worst than Greenday live. It is what it is. It is all about the music you like better. I rather go to a Tool concert, because I like them better. But that does not mean they are better. I bet you Greenday concert will sell out just as fast if not faster than Tools.

Re: Rock Band: Green Day
He is just wired that way. The first time a met him he was bouncing every where. Really cool dude too, but just too weird for me. So is Billie, but Mike was my at my level. Billie had blue hair in high school, trust me you didn't see that back then. That was weird! But any way back to this thread. Sorry to high Jack I am done. Unless someone rips Greenday again.

Re: Rock Band: Green Day
That has absolutely nothing to do with the talent level of a musical act at all and you know it.
Going by your logic, the Backstreet Boys are better than Green Day because they have sold more albums (which they have, oddly enough) right?
Do you see how utterly stupid that sounds?Comment

Re: Rock Band: Green Day
Way to side step all that other stuff I said. The concert was to tell that taste plays more of a factor than talent. If you like Tool other people do to, some like Greenday better it is what it is. If you want to go by sounds then yes Tool is Deep, but in fact Greenday has new sound too. And a lot of band copy their sound. Just like Greenday copy Ramones if you ask me. I will give you this Tool did come up with their on sound in my opinion, so if that is what you are going by what is talented then yes. They are more talented. That has absolutely nothing to do with the talent level of a musical act at all and you know it.

Though I promise you Billie can play the guitar with the best of them. I am not impress with Tool talent wise. Yes they are good at what they do, put I don't but them as so much better than Greenday talent wise. If I was looking at straight talent I would put David Grohl ahead of Tool. But then again is still opinion. Just like your about Tool being more talented. Also Tre Cool is a crazy drummer. Mike has his own sound on bass, but he is not great like some our. Billie can get down with the best of them though. But you wont see that because he stick with the 3 cords.
But trust me I saw it and it was really good and this coming from someone that saw Kirk H ripped it up in his mom's basement as a teenager with his band Testament. So I do knew a little about what I am talking about it and also having a older brother that was taught once by Joe S. So I think I have some grounds to speak on it.
Side note Joe S taught how to play Smoke on the water intro as a 8 year old.
That is all I know how to play!

Re: Rock Band: Green Day
Yep, you guy sure don't but that is cool too. Billie can hang with anybody on the guitar. And his writing skills are up there with the best of them. You don't last this long with out some major talent, but keep thinking the way you do dilimb. And Goh those guys you mention are better no doubt, but it is not by this wide margin in my opinion.Comment

Re: Rock Band: Green Day
See this is how we end up with stuff like Made in Mexcio and Abnormality.
A benefit to band games, not having anything like those.
I expect to have the game thursday or friday. Though the store seems to have been a bit off recently so maybe not but it's possible.Comment

Re: Rock Band: Green Day
To all the talk about Green Day's place amongst other rock bands:
There's gotta be something to be said for a band that has the immediate impact that Green Day had with the release of Dookie (which is at its core a document about adolescence in the 90s, and I'm pretty sure everyone and their brother had that record), then following it up nary a decade later with another massively popular record in American Idiot (I admittedly was not a huge Green Day fan until this record came out; however upon listening to this album I was hooked and I tracked down their entire back catalogue).
There's gotta be something to be said for a band that makes music with such immediacy and staying power as Green Day does, and they're arguably unmatched at combination. Their songs aren't the most lyrically deep, they don't have the most complex instrumentation, but they do pack a helluva lotta energy into each track, and any of their songs can easily get into your head and stay there.
There's also gotta be something to be said for a band who gets such positive reviews from those who attend their live shows. While I personally haven't done such, anyone I've asked about what the best concert he or she has been to was who has seen Green Day live answers Green Day. That has to count for something.
The bottom line is that, whatever bands you put up in the proverbial pantheon of rock, Green Day definitely has a strong case for a place up there with them by most any standard.
As to the game (sorry for the essay, heh), I'll be picking it up soon after its release (gotta get paid first).Comment

Re: Rock Band: Green Day
I know, you think I would but knowing Billie and Mike since I was Five. I guess I just couldn't believe how big they got. I talk to Billie's brother and sister everyday on Facebook and talk to Billie about a year ago. Cool dude, but just a little too different from me.Comment
