The whole sellout thing baffles my mind...you have to sign to a label in order to make an actual career. That's one area that punk fans completely confuse me. It's like they don't want their favorite bands to make real money.

        Re: Rock Band: Green Day

        Review from Gamepro:

I was wrong to assume Green Day didn't carry a comparable amount of cultural cachet as the Fab Four, and it only took one song for me to "get" why Green Day: Rock Band made sense. As soon as Mike Dirnt's groovy bass line during "She" exploded into its aggressive chorus, I saw that Green Day is a better fit for Rock Band than any band I can think of, and that's including The Beatles. That's not to say that this is a better Rock Band game, or that Green Day is a better musical act; my point is that the balls-out rocking of Green Day's music is a much better fit for the medium.

I don't know, if I have a chance to sign with a large record label over an Indie/Underground label...............I'm going with the larger label.

It is BS they did not sell out. Sorry to be so heated, but I know Billie and Mike personally. And still talk to them to this day. THEY DID NOT SELL OUT! The bottom line is they had to go large, because the little company that they were with could not get enough CD's out fast and enough. Billie did it for the fans and then when they got huge that ****ed with him big time, then he got over it. He still trips over meeting with these record dudes and they are all there to make money off him. Believe it or not Billie is very shy in person, except when he is on stage. I remember just about 2 years ago I was hanging out with him a high school reunion. Even though he didn't graduated he came and all these people were star struck. I could tell it was ****ing with him big time. I was like come on guys this is Billie our old childhood friend. I am glad they did this though. I remember about a year ago someone on here knew I knew Billie and asked about how come they never did a rock band. I asked his brother and he didn't know the answer, but told me he would ask Billie, then all a sudden the news comes that they are doing one. Crazy? Maybe or maybe I am just that lucky. Any way they are not sell outs. I will say this MTV made them BIG!

Oh yes the banned. I do believe that is over now. I remember going into the bathroom there and listening to my friends band and it said **** Billie Joe. That was classic. They were all pissed because that was their special way of sticking it to the big record companies. The problem is Greenday was just too big for that market. They had so more many fans and were going larger every time they played. They could not get out the CD's fast enough. I remember selling CD's out of Mike car we had about 1,000 I if I remember right this was about 20 plus years, they were gone in minutes and they still had a lot more people wanting more. It was crazy that is when I was like **** they are getting big. I had no idea just how big they would get. I did know once they got Tre I knew they would take off even more. Tre is just so damn good.

Yeah, but in the punk world you don't do that. It is what it is. A lot of good bands have heard to that model, but in Greenday's case they had a bigger following then the other punk bands. Billie was a great entertainer and the crowd ate that up big time. So you had even non punks coming to the shows. They just got too large for that scene. It probably was the best thing for both sides in the long one. People that were coming to the shows were not the ones that the punk people wanted there. That punk world is something else though. I had some great times growing up there.

Just listen to basket case and tell me how many 18 year olds can write something that deep. And yes it is deep song believe it or not. What makes Dlyan and the Boss so great the years they been around? Well if Billie is still playing at age 60 and I think you are going to have to put him in this category if they are still making good music. I am not a real big fan of their music believe it or not, but one thing I give them credit for is changing as they get older. Their sounds and lyrics. I am bias when it comes to this band, so I like them a lot but that is because I know them. If I didn't know them I would not really be into them at all. Through I would be into Basket case. There is just something about that song that really hits, maybe I am little crazy.

I'd say that BJ's song writing is more on the Elvis Costello level, not that it's a bad thing.

Maybe that is good call, though I think his newer and some even older stuff has some deeper meanings. But that is just me.

Is the export process the same as it was for Lego RB? I do want the songs but not enough to pay 60 bucks for them.

I wonder how much I could sell it for after doing the export.

It's unconfirmed but expected to be.

                            Probably $25.

Please tell me this is a joke post. Please. I mean, Green Day is a decent band for the style of music they play and all, but the level of talent they possess as actual musicians is average at best and I'm being extremely generous. And maybe it's just me, but calling the main songwriter of two albums titled after references to human feces (namely Kerplunk and Dookie to be specific) one of the best of our generation is an insult to us all.

And yes, I actually enjoy their music but come on, man. I literally almost burst into laughter earlier when someone said that Green Day were more talented and put on a better live show than Tool. I mean, that is just ridiculous, opinion or not. Ridiculous.

On topic: I will be picking this game up and exporting into my RB2 library. Maybe I'll actually hang on to the disc and knock out a few achievements before trading it in as well, we'll see.

Tre is like always on an acid trip or something. That guy just always seems to be hyperactive beyond rational thought. But I guess that's what makes him so great. The enthusiasm and high energy level.
