DLC is planned once a month for the next six months.

Does the game end, or can you continuously wander about the cities? Got to play around 20 more minutes, stoked

Wow... I think I just finished intro chapter and some.

I didn't expect the combat/melee mechanics to be this good.

Story seem to be darker than GTA series, it reminds me of my favourite Hong Kong Noir Film, Infernal Affairs (Departed) !

The main story will eventually end, yeah. But you'll have all the side quests to finish still and collectables to find. After that, yeah, you'll be able to just wander around all you want. You can replay most missions, though, so that adds to replayability.

Do you mean the ones that have orange icons over them? Just hijack it, and drop it off at the garage marked with an orange icon.

Snag a wallet. Rob a bank. Just get this game.

I'm about 10 hours into it, and it's miles ahead of where GTA4 was for me.

If anyone is looking for a good boost to your face meter, hit up the fight clubs around HK. It's 6 rounds of increasing difficulty, but the first one I won, I believe I netted $150,000 and a huge face increase. Plus, it's really good hand to hand practice.

You all... you're making me wish I could go into seclusion for a week and get some good face time with the game. Fight clubs? That's slick. I was having a blast in my latest 30 minute session with it. In-laws are coming here today, instead of us going up there. No game time either.

^ Poor guy (Run away? LOL). I love the way driving feels. This is where GTA deff needs to take a page from. The cars feel different and have weight and the bikes, oh my god, the street bikes (crotch rockets) are SO fun to drive.

                      This right here.

I love driving the motorcycles in this game, that's something no game ever made me want to do.

Haha... My two babies would probably miss me too much. Not to mention the pup, and probably the wife. But alas, soon.

For those on the PC, is anyone using the 360 controller? Does it function properly? I have one on the way, so hopefully it does. The Batarang PS3 controller doesn't work too well.

                          Face-Off: Sleeping Dogs

Sleeping Dogs: The Digital Foundry Verdict

With Sleeping Dogs, United Front Games has handed in a highly impressive openworld game. The meticulously crafted environments and strong story focus holds together an otherwise 'by the numbers' experience rather well. There's a real sense that the depth offered up by the hand-to-hand combat greatly eclipses that found in other sandbox titles, while the Hong Kong setting creates a more interesting place for events to occur compared to the gritty urban environments found in most open world titles.

Aside from a few issues with regards to a sometimes inconsistent frame-rate, lower-resolution effects and presentation (on the PS3), it's an experience which works very well on all platforms. On the 360, the slightly upscaled framebuffer isn't much cause for concern. Meanwhile, on PlayStation 3, despite the lower-resolution visuals and pared-back texture details and effects, this is still an engrossing experience despite the graphical downgrades. In fact, when it comes down to the gameplay, the PS3 version features a tangible benefit in that the controls somehow feel less 'twitchy' than they do on Xbox 360 - which seems to be down more down to the controller than the code.

Overall Sleeping Dogs is worthy of consideration on both console platforms, but on balance the 360 game is the better buy: minor controller issues aside, the cleaner presentation is preferable over the murkier look of the PS3 game. Naturally, the PC offering provides the best experience out of the three, which comes as no surprise given that there's no fixed hardware limitation on the platform - just the size of your wallet and how much you want to spend on building a mega-powered gaming rig. That said, as the DFPC video above demonstrates, as long as you're realistic with the quality settings, those with more respectable set-ups should be able to play the game smoothly at either 720p or 1080p with most settings ramped up.

                            I'm using the 360 controller. It's flawless

Just ordered off of GMG, pretty much half the price of console version once tax is included on the retail console version.

                                Game of the Year candidate!!!

Just popped it in and Wow. I've never felt like such a badass in a game before

I had to force myself to turn it off because I don't want to finish too quickly.

Man...I wanna fight everyone in sight. And I wanna run every vendor's pockets that I see.

My only sight knock is that I wish there were more cuts/bruises shown on Wei's face because I got slashed quite a few times. But that's minor.

Incredible game. If anyone even liked GTA evn an ounce...I'd say this game is a must buy. Well worth the coin.
