Re: Sonic the Hedgehog 4 (Episodic and 2D)

Just to bump this, Sonic 4: Ep 1 has been delayed until late 2010, but will also be available on the iPhone. Reportedly, the motion-sensitive levels (i.e. the hated minecart) will be exclusive to that platform. Also, Sonic's run animation will be tweaked, among other things.

    All this according to Wikipedia.

Unless I see raving reviews, I will probably just stick to my Sonic Mega Collection (or whatever it is called).

I don't understand this. It will be exclusive to the iPhone? Or it will be exclusive to motion-sensitive control platforms?

Ah, I'm glad then. Maybe this could turn out to be a good game. I just wish/hope there's a multiplayer aspect where you can have Tails, like Sonic 3, and he can fly you around.

Looks like Sonic 4 came out this week, and it's actually getting pretty good reviews! It's averaging a 79 at Metacritic, with scores ranging from 90 to 75, but mostly hovering in the 80 range.

I played the demo tonight and it honestly felt pretty good, if a bit more responsive than I'm used to the controls in Sonic being (particularly in the air). I'll probably buy this within the next couple of days.

So are there only four levels? Will the other episodes be add-ons to the downloadable games, and thereby be cheaper? That would be good.

If this was $10, it would be a definite buy......but $15 is stretching it a bit. Especially if the rest of the epis will be $15 each. Are there 3 or 4 episodes?

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog 4 (Episodic and 2D)

I beat the game today. It was fun but I felt Sonic was a little sluggish until he got going. From a standstill he walks for like 4 seconds before he kicks it into high gear.

I liked the boss battles and found the final boss stage to be pretty fun and also pretty challenging. In retrospect it would of been easier had I went back to stage 1 and farmed lives for the checkpoints but it was fun trying to get through on 3 lives and added a nice challenge.

Not sure if it was worth $15.00 as I beat it pretty quickly. Although apparently I still need to collect 6 Chaos Emeralds which I'm not quite sure how to do. Hopefully the future releases are considered add-ons and are cheaper.

Played the demo; control/responsiveness was too sluggish imo.

Sorry for the bump but I am thinking about getting this as it looks like a solid game. I loved Sonic when I was five and I imagine I will still love it now. This was the first video game series I played. Can't wait to play it again for the first time in 15 years!

You might want to play the demo first. Controls are laggy, Sonic takes forever to get going on his own, and it seemed a bit "simplified." Plus, no Tails co-op.

As much of a Sonic fan that I am, if you want a platformer from XBLA right now, get Super Meat Boy. Much more bang for your buck, as it is cheaper and has hundreds more levels.

I can't justify buying this Sonic game at $15 with as few levels as it has.
