This is SOCOM 4. A game of three parts, two of which are awful/broken and one of which [co-op] is too shallow because of the time spent developing the others. At best, it could hope to be a functional, if archaic, shooter. At its worst, it's a glitchy, laggy game that seems to be facing the exact same problems as its prequel, released three years ago.

Reviewer seems very frustrated by online lag and glitches, but I did not see those complaints from the beta impresssions.

Wow...those are some bad reviews. They will never be able to capture the "Socom 1 & Socom 2" experience. Those were good times back then.......good times.

Not sure what they were playing (or looking for) but in no way IMO, from the beta, does the game deserve a score that low.

Joystiq says the game suffers cause it is too much like CoD now, but CoD doesn't suffer for tirelessly being like itself?

For the record I am not too into this game, but just find stuff like that comical.

I didn't think the game was that bad. IMO, it's not S1 or S2, but it's not as bad as these reviews are talking about.

What I don't understand is how they can say a game is trying to heard to be like COD, but yet those same people are saying COD is best FPS ever. Not sure how I feel about that.

^^My thoughts exactly. No, its not the SOCOM of old, but it is nowhere near a bad game. I think the changes are a good change of pace... but then again, most people are hard to easily accept change. I like the changes personally, there are a couple of things I wish would have remained (pistol secondaries, demolition mode) but what can you do?

As it stands, the game still has its own identity, they just altered it a bit.

I just thought that review was sort of harsh and the guy seemed to not like Socom, in the first place. I don't know why we're even comparing this thing to S1 or S2 still. Those were great games, but they were so long ago that the comparison just doesn't make sense (Nostalgia ?).

He probably loves the Socom series and is upset that they are changing their formula to be a third person CoD to appeal to a wider audience. Look at the market. Almost every shooter is a CoD clone. Every games has perks, killstreaks, etc. It's tiresome. Do something different. I'm really hope Battlefield's talk isn't just talk and they mix things up.

Do you feel any way at all "limited" with movement with the sharpshooter?
I got almost 150.00 in store credit.....
So there's SOCOM, KZ3 that are "programmed" for it.

I don't feel limited personally... it just takes getting used to. Honestly though, you can be MORE precise with a lot of things, like headshots, etc. Plus, it feels badass putting a couple rounds into someone while holding a gun...
