Does anyone think there's a chance we may get some worth while endings this time around?

Phoenix – She gets 1 action in the air now then she falls to the ground. I don't know if she can't block during this state or if she just can't press a button. I doubt she can't block, but its still nice that she can only throw one fireball now and can't run away with it.
This is the most exciting thing for me. I've been running into too many people online who have her as the last character, never use hyper combos, and then when it gets down to her they just float in the air shooting fireballs.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

Marvel vs Capcom is the only fighting game that I have the patience to stick with and get better at. I was horrible when I first played this but I went from having a 39 win percentage to being over 50% and able to beat high ranked people.

And that's the biggest issue. I don't have a lot of sticking power in competitive games that require hours of grinding to get better at.

I dream of it at times though. I learn the language, watch videos, and really do enjoy learning about the community but there is a nice sized entry barrier for the new guy to step in.

Mega Man, God Hand's Gene were in final UMvC3 character pool

Gene from God Hand and Mega Man were in the final character pool for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, but they didn't make the final cut, Capcom's Christian Svensson explained on a video chat at Comic-Con. He talked about all sorts of other details, and a transcript of the notable stuff is below.

There's more after the jump as well. • Gene from God Hand was in very close consideration for UMvC3's roster. They had more characters in the final pool than they could put in the game, and Gene happened to be in that category. Mega Man was in the final pool of characters too.

            • Capcom is not prepared to talk about DLC for UMvC3 right now. Sven said DLC is a part of their business, but that doesn't mean character DLC has to be.

            • Svensson said Mega Man is absolutely not dead and continues to be a very important brand for them.

            • The net code in UMvC3 is its own thing, it's a different beast than anything Capcom has used in their other games.

            • UMvC3 costumes won't have alternative colors, like in SF4, the focus is instead on changing the geometry around.

            • Cyclops wasn't a consideration for UMvC3, and Venom was never an option for characters they could choose from Marvel's roster. In the case of Cyclops, they already have a ton of X-Men in the game, so they didn't want to add yet another one.

            • Having a balance of race or sex wasn't a discussion for UMvC3's roster.

            • The following statement was very up in the air: If you didn't buy Jill/Shuma in vanilla MvC3, they won't be selectable in UMvC3 unless you purchase them. Again, this is not 100% and may change. Svensson was a bit out of the loop on this, so he said take this info with a huge grain of salt.

            • Capcom will talk about the DLC for SF3 3s Online Edition after it's released, around August 23/24, 2011.

            • About the Darkstalkers "announcement" it's just Ono trying to get the game made, he wasn't trolling or trying to mislead. Svensson called the sites that posted the Darkstalkers is being remade story "bad reporting," Ono just wants to stir up interest so he can get the game in development.

            • More Fight Clubs will happen in the future.

            • Gambit isn't being ignored for UMvC3, but he's not in the game.

            • Poison's gender is supposed to be ambiguous.
Improved match making and online play for UMvC3, other details

Ryota Niitsuma was recently on the live video feed from Comic-Con to talk about Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. He shared a number of new details about the game, here's a transcript of the notable information he had to share.

Hit the jump for more. • In regards to online features for UMvC3, the match making process was sped up, they reduced online lag and the menu flow is easier for rematching players.

            • At the current stage of development, there is no replay mode in UMvC3.

            • The HUD shown is not the final version and is for Comic-Con. They're aware the lifebars for backup characters are hard to see and more tweaks are coming.

            • Niitsuma hoped to get more characters from Marvel vs. Capcom 2 into UMvC3, but Marvel had their preferences, so Capcom went with those. Niitsuma also wanted to get another non-fighting game character in, but didn't say who that was.

            • Tournament results and videos were a factor in balancing the game. Fan feedback and other stuff went a long ways in helping the developers change things.

            • Not all characters got new moves, some just got tweaks to their existing attacks. Moves were added or changed to balance out the game, not just to add/change moves. C. Viper did get a new move, though. Frame data for a lot of the characters has been tweaked.

            • The number of costume colors available for the characters has been expanded.

            • There's no new end boss for UMvC3, still Galactus, but that doesn't mean they've left him untouched. He's got some new bells and whistles to throw at players.

            • There will be something for MvC3 fans who bought the original game, if you have the save data on your console. What that is isn't revealed yet, but there will be an extra.

            • If UMvC3 sells well, there will responses to fan requests for more content. This was said in response to if Mega Man will be in the game or not.

            • All of the old stages are still in the game. Kattelox Island's snow version is separate from the old one.

            • Capcom will not do a complete change log for MvC3 to UMvC3, but they're planning on doing something to document the changes between games.

            • Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 will be at EVO 2011.

            • If you bought DLC characters/costumes for MvC3, that will be useable in UMvC3, but Shadow Mode DLC will not be going over to UMvC3, that's only for vanilla MvC3.

            • Capcom didn't want to completely overhaul X-Factor, because it's still MvC3, but they did make some changes to it, it does less damage now and of course can be activated in the air, as previously reported.

            • The new characters in the game will have their own endings, stories and stuff, but it sounds like they'll be styled how they were in MvC3.

            • Simple mode will be like it was in MvC3, you can't access all of a character's moves with it.

            • Capcom went to the original source material a lot for the characters to try to bring them to life in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

            • Hawkeye was a choice Marvel was very excited about. He has good long range attacks of course, but his close range attacks are good as well, making him pretty unique and fun to use.

Exactly, it seems Marvel wants these lesser known characters to be some sort of launching pad for revenue somewhere else rather than to appeal to MvC fans.

am i the only one that feels ripped off with this UMVC3? as a long time SF fan since '92 ive watched them make 5 diff editions of the street fighter games and come to expect that. but with the crossover games, they never did that after a decent amount of titles and i respected them for that and chalked that up to a street fighter brand thing only. now this happens...to me it feels kinda like sacrilege.

i already bought the limited edition MVC3 at launch for $70 and in no way shape or form ready to pay another $40 for this, which honestly sounds like the game i thought i was buying in feb. after the weak shadow battles dlc and the fact they actually charged for it, honestly i feel all of these additions should have been post support of the incomplete "vanilla" mvc3. the game had decent shortcomings and balance issues, it actually soured me on my beloved crossovers. i never regretted playing any of them until this one....now as a slap in the face 6 mos later they fix all the probs and they pull the ultimate edition outta their butts.
