Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe SFIV didn't release a demo.

Anyone know if this was shipped out yet? I meant to check if I could get it from the local rental place today but didn't get the chance.

People over at Shoryuken have gotten their hands on it so it seems that it's out there.

I rarely buy guides, but the one for this looks to be well worth it.

            Samples:

Man this game looks pretty sweet, I am awful at fighting games though. The speed of this game is really intimidating for someone like me. Never played the other MVC games, with the exception of a couple of times at the arcade.

I know a lot of the people don't need a demo before purchasing it, but it would be great for people on the fence like I am. I think there making a mistake by not releasing a demo, even if it had to be a slightly less polished version of the game and contain only a few fighters. Most people understand that demo's aren't going to be as polished as the full game anyways.

Been playing it...I think even if your not good at fighting games you'll like this. Training mode will help you learn the moves ..just takes practice

My biggest problem with fighting games is I am terrible at memorizing all the button combination to pull off different moves. Even with practice, I found that part is still difficult for me. I have played some fighting games in the past , but was basically just button mashing. I could only beat family and friends, if they were also button mashing. Anybody decent would destroy me.

Marvel vs Capcom is the ultimate instant gratification fighter. MvC3 is even more accessible with a simplified 3-button scheme (light, medium, hard) and a launcher. A lot of moves can be done with simply quarter-circle attack. Super combos don't require nearly as much dexterity as something like SFIV. Also, there's a simple mode that distills things down even further to 2-buttons - one handles your basic moves and just taping it will perform some basic combos, and the second handles your specials by simply pressing it. That's it.

Thanks for the info, I may pick it up if that is the case. May pick up Mortal Kombat as well, with how good that is looking.

Will the moves still be significantly harder to pull off using a regular controller? I was thinking of getting it for the 360, but the d-pad is terrible for fighting games right?

I'm glad the basics are simplified in MVC due to the fact that you have to know three different movesets for any one match. Granted a lot of the motions are the same, but they do very different things depending on the character.

If I do get this though, having no dedicated punch-kick buttons is going to throw me for a loop for a while - I guess we'd have to figure out the range at which a punch or kick comes out?

It's character dependent. A standing medium attack may be a punch with one character, while a kick for another.
