Re: Marvel vs Capcom 3 (360/PS3)

I've always been big on fighting games. But I seriously used to be obsessed with MVC2. Even ten years later I can still turn on that game when I want to have some quick, mindless fun. So needless to say, I was so excited when I heard that they were finally releasing a MVC3. I rarely ever take a day off of work for a video game. As a matter of fact, the only two times that I have was to do the NCAA football OS community rosters these past two years. But this is one time where I said to myself.... "F work, I'm staying home to play this". My girl has already said to me numerous times, I can't believe you're getting this excited over a little video game. I see where she's coming from, but damn man, its been ten years. With all that being said.... I can't wait for midnight tonight.

P.S. This is the one game I will probably play online for more than a couple of days lol. Get at me fellas.

I probably will never play it online, just because I suck at fighting games, but love playing them for some reason. LOL

I've also played MvC2 for the last 10 years. Had it on PS2, then had it on DC, now have it on XBLA. Love playing it, always a good quick pick up fighting game. Helps that I love the characters as well.

      But..I still suck. LOL

Find in-depth gaming news and hands-on reviews of the latest video games, video consoles and accessories.

Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds is an example of a game made great by an enormous amount of love and attention to detail. It's a worthy sequel to one of the most beloved fighting games of all time, brought to a current-gen level. Expect this one to be in heavy rotation among fans of fighting games for a long time coming.

Do you guys think it is necessary to buy a fight pad with this game? I am leaning towards buying the game at this point, but will not having a fight pad put me at a big disadvantage when I try to play this game online? I already suck at fighting games anyways, I defiantly can't afford to be put at anymore of a disadvantage.

Mgoblue, I can honestly say that I never played with a fight pad while playing MVC2 and I was able to pull off moves just fine. And from what I hear, it is even easier to pull off moves in this game so I would say that the fight pad is not a necessity.

Thanks. Did you play MCV 2 on the 360 or PS3?

I have it on the 360. I can understand the hate for the xbox controller for games with complex moves, but I truly have never felt like a fighting pad was necessary for MVC. Almost all of the moves are extremely simple and can be pulled off with ease using any controller. Now I do understand if someone gets the pad simply because it is more comfortable for them. But outside of that, I just really feel that it is necessary for this game.

If I were you mgo, I would try it out with the regular pad for a few days. If it feels uncomfortable, go with the fighting pad. But I just don't want to see you spend money that you don't have to my man.

They said that the inputs are more like SF4 then MVC2 so, you should be fine with a controller....

IMO, he gamepad is always a better experience however...my MVC2 and SSF4 game rose considerably with it...

SRK MvC3 wiki is nicely done. Walkthroughs for each character.

                              IGN: 8.5

Decent review...just some weird negatives they threw in there....

They talk about the depth of the characters, then say there isnt enough of them...

Lack of modes....I cant speak for everyone, but i cant do w\o Time Attack and Survivor Modes...especially since theres a deep practice and challenge mode...More costumes would be cool though...
