Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops
I'm really having trouble playing on my new Samsung TV. The input lag is just horrendous. I've been playing on a 19" computer monitor where there is about 4ms lag to about 30-40ms on the Samsung. Really frustrating.Comment

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops
Not sure if anyone's touched much on this (or if anyone cares...seems people mostly do multiplayer), but what are everyone's impressions of the single-player campaign?
Honestly, I think it kinda sucks; I never got into the whole Infinity Ward vs Treyarch thing, but having played both studio's games, I have to say there is a definite difference in at least the single player portions of the game. I think the Black Ops campaign is sort of boring and bland; it almost looks/feels like it came out before the original Modern Warfare (COD4). The graphics are worse, the missions are boring, and worst of all, it doesn't seem like Treyarch understands how to make a game challenging without it being cheap (see: Executive Order, Defend Khe San...two of the worst mission designs I've ever played). I've beaten COD:MW2 and Black Ops on Veteran, and I just felt that Black Ops was frustrating as all hell whereas I never felt really cheated on MW2. Also, there is just no variety in the missions on Black Ops; it's pretty much the same blast away on-foot through a corridor type missions, whereas IW's COD games give you really cool/cinematic moments like the AC150 mission from COD4, the snowmobile run and the run-like-hell mission from MW2 (in the favela). Yeah, MW2 is way over-the-top in a Michael Bay-like sense, but it's at least really fun and ****. Black Ops is just totally blah and frustrating.
I only bring this up now because I just went back and put MW2 in the ol' Xbox just for fun, and I was surprised by how much better it looks, more fun it plays, and how it just seems generally better in every aspect than Black Ops....I'd say the multiplayer is a wash, but I'm by no means a multiplayer connoisseur - I pretty much get blown away 25 times a minutes whenever I jump on.Comment

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops
The map pack looks intriguing... Kowloon peaks my interest the most. It seems to me like it's going to play out like a "Favela" type map but with ziplines. With Rooftop, to Rooftop gun fights, and another level of close range fighting inside the buildings, attics..etc. The gloomy, rainy? night time atmosphere is right up my alley is well. I can see a lot of XBox live whiners complaining about getting shot on the Ziplines, those really don't seem like a Safe way to travel. (You know people will have their sights up watching them) There should definitely be alternate points of travel like ladders and such though, which I will be taking even if it is longer.
I'm guessing Stadium might be like Broadcast from Cod4? Lots of interior, exterior run'n'gun type game play.
You know there's going to be some poor souls that sprint right through the No man's land on Berlin Wall... and proceed to get slaughtered, then learn their lesson. That's probably where the B flag in Domination is going to be. That's going to be pretty brutal to get...Last edited by Feared; 01-17-2011, 07:09 PM.Minnesota Vikings

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops
I'm with you on all points. And both of the missions you listed were awful. Khe San doesn't give you a clear objective at all and the infinite enemies are a signature of Treyarch apparently. They did try to give some excitement with the helicopter level, but even that wasn't actually all that fun and flying a helicopter in BF:BC puts it to shame. Just bad campaign design all around.Originally posted by BlueNGoldI feel weird for liking a post about exposed penises.Comment
