Can't wait for this game. Beat both games more than once and still play both to this date. I love the series and am happy to see combat get some new things.

Re: Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
I like the fighting system, to be honest. The variation was nice and it wasn't too difficult or too easy.

Re: Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
Variation in animations maybe, but not much variation in user controlled moves. And c'mon, it was about as easy as it gets beyond simply pressing A, A, A all the time. You just had to wait and parry everything.Comment

Re: Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
Eurogamer: Multiplayer Hands-on and Interview
The basic mechanics are the same - hunt rival players across a contained map - as is the kills-versus-deaths scoreline at the end. But the experience is completely different. Ubisoft's designers have focused exclusively on making you feel as much like an assassin as possible, and the result has a much slower pace - literally, since running makes you conspicuous - than your everyday fragfest. Through a number of clever design choices, it also has the potential to be one of the best realisations of stealth gameplay in a multiplayer scenario to date.Equally crucially - since it's almost impossible for a real person to behave like a computer - leave the pad untouched and your character will mill around automatically, exactly like one of the NPCs. A simple, brilliant evasive tactic.A super-stealthy defensive set-up - my favourite - has a smoke bomb that immobilises anyone near you, and the ability to morph all nearby NPCs into your own appearance. Think someone's on your tail? Just sit on a bench, create copies of yourself, and leave the pad alone to get up and stroll away. Which is the real you?
Wanted is slow, it's tense, it's devious. By its very nature, death can come without warning, but the rich satisfaction in setting up your own furtive murders - and the change in pace when rooftop foot chases break out - balance that out well. It's heart-in-mouth fun that may have limited long-term appeal, but it shows the same kind of knack for novel, asymmetrical multiplayer that Ubisoft demonstrated with the legendary Spies-versus-Mercs mode of Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow back in 2004. We can't wait to see what other modes the developers have up their - scooped, knife-concealing - sleeves.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

- Brotherhood starts at exactly the moment that Assassin's Creed 2 ended - with you stepping straight back into Ezio's boots.
- Brotherhood will feature 15 hours of gameplay in the campaign mode, plus all the promised wonders of multiplayer.
- Ezio, of course, is now a master assassin - and to overthrow the Borgia rule of Rome he will need to create a new Assassin's Guild, uniting the underground resistance against the Borgia.
- You'll be able to recruit multiple new assassins into this guild by completing missions around the city (for example citizens being harassed by Borgia guards), then train and level them up with extra weapons and skills in a kind of RPG development.
- Once you do, you'll be able to call on these NPC assassins during your actual missions in a new BAM system, asking them to silently take out Borgia guards or lend a hand when you're involved in large scale combat and storming operations.
- You'll also be able to send these assassins on (we think non-playable) contract missions around Europe from Moscow to London to gain additional experience. Level 7 NPC assassins look well hard.
- Ezio has a parachute. Yup you read that right, a parachute! Most likely the work of Leonardo, you'll get extra style points (in our minds) for base jumping from the highest landmarks, opening your chute late, landing straight onto your horse and riding off!
- You'll be able to hurl over sized weapons like the double headed axe for maximum carnage!
- Assassin's Tomb missions look most likely set to return (though when we asked this was met with a knowing smile and a 'we can't talk about that now').
- Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood will feature the biggest city the series has ever seen, with the eternal city of Rome confirmed as at least three times bigger than Florence from Assassin's Creed 2.
- Rome is dominated by Borgia towers each of which exert a zone of influence. To free the city you'll have to conquer each tower, find and slay its Borgia overlord and then torch the building, sending it tumbling to the ground.
- Once you conquer a tower, new opportunities like shops will open up as Borgia Influence starts to wane.
- There will be more modern day sequences featuring subject 17 Desmond and these are set to feature much more actual gameplay than in Assassin's Creed 2.
- DLC is already planned, but Ubi remain tight lipped on anything further details.

Re: Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
AC2 is one of my all time favorite games and the only game I ever achieved 100% completion of. I loved everything about, f4rom the gameplay to the story. I can't wait to get my hands on Brotherhood.
On another note, I finally decided to give AC1 a shot. I picked it up off glyde.com for 5 bucks and as much as I loved AC2 I felt like I owed it to myself to play the first. After a week playing it, I have to say this game just is not very good. Everything from the mission structure, sidequests, to the way Altair controls is just not very engaging. The game almost feels "heartless" or empty. I knew the game would not be as good as AC2, but wow I had no idea the first game was so lacking. It's a shame because the era of the Crusades are amongst my favorite in history to read about. The concept is just so cool, but the execution is so off. It really is amazing just how much they turned it around for part 2. Nearly EVERYTHING in AC2 is better, and I'm not that big a fan of the Renaissance. I would love to see the AC series revisit Jerusalem and Altair's character, but with Ezios abilities and AC2's refined gameplay engine... but I know that would never happen.2006 - present, NY Mets Season Ticket HolderComment

Re: Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
Eurogamer Hands-on
Recruitment is done in a few ways. One of them is to help rebellious citizens who are taking the fight to the Borgia - the bullying Templars who have the city under their control - by diving in and mashing up guards who are threatening them. Once a rebel is liberated he kneels and swears allegiance to Ezio.
Ezio can organise his minions from pigeon coops, sending individuals on contract missions around the world - to poison the food of a German monk, for example. The game shows you their odds of success and if they do make it back then they earn money and experience points which you can invest in their growth. If the odds are too long though they may die, even if they're level 10, and that will mean recruiting a replacement and starting over. There are more guards to deal with using Brotherhood's refined combat system, which puts the emphasis on striking first and striking fast. Skills beget kills, and if you make a few successive kills then more will follow in fluid fashion - so long as your button input is sufficiently fluent.
Of course Ezio is never alone now, so once the crowd becomes a little large for his liking he whistles and his fellow assassins emerge, pouncing this way and that to dispense with the Borgia minions. There's a cool-down period attached to assassin usage, perhaps because the effect of fighting alongside these fast-moving, balletic death machines is almost as beguiling as Ezio's effortless charm. The parachute, which looks precarious but does what you'd expect, is manoeuvrable enough that Ezio is even able to land directly on a horse. They can now be used in cities and we see some other good horsey actions too. At one point Ezio leaps from a rooftop to assassinate a Borgia soldier on horseback, taking his ride in the process, and elsewhere he finds an armoured horse. As he passes under some wooden beams he swings himself upwards to land on a nearby ledge. It will also be possible to upgrade buildings you liberate. After Assassin's Creed II's wonderful cities, full to the brim with collectables, expect Rome to offer many such diversions - and we're also told to expect moneyboxes again, along with collectable flags.
Collectables will appear in eagle vision and have better marking on the map, so it should be easier to gather the remaining view, rather than having to go painstakingly to every location using a walkthrough.
On top of that you can expect variations on other popular themes. The assassin tombs from ACII won't be replicated exactly, but similar linear platform puzzle sequences will make it in, and Ubisoft hopes to ramp up the replay value in other ways.
You will have the option to replay missions you've completed, and you will also be able to read how Ezio did it - perhaps by pure stealth rather than confrontation. If you can match his feat then the Animus will give you 100 per cent synchronisation with that memory.
Customisation will also feature - whether it's choosing outfit colours for your assassin recruits, or buying specific weapons and upgrades from Leonardo to suit your play style. Coupled with the combat system refinements, hopefully this will encourage a bit more experimentation and variation in battle as well - throwing spears, for example. How many people who completed ACII ever learned how to kick sand in an enemy's face or trip them with a pike?Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment
