Yeah I totally get why you said that, I just don't think first person would be a good fit in a Star Wars game.

Battlefront isn't Jedi Outcast though. The Battlefront games have always been 3rd person. Switching to a FPS would turn a lot of fans off.

I don't think they ca use the work that was already done on the project since they are using different engines, right?

Either way, I don't expect this to hit shelves before holiday season 2014

Not sure about that but I am just glad to see the game is going to happen at some point. I think they'll put the game out around the time of the next film.

My guess would be that they are using Battlefield 4, and creating what would be called a "total conversion" in the mod scene. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, provided they alter the game enough so that it doesn't feel like Battlefield 4 with star wars skins.

But it is a bit worrisome that they state it's "well into development", that feels rushed. Of course, EA could've told studios months and months before they inked the deal to present Star Wars games and then begin production. EA could have already been part of the Disney-Lucas negotiations, and that had been ongoing since last fall.

According the that article that's exactly what they don't want to do. That's why the title is just Starwars: Battlefront.

They want to make it their own and such. Btw another article I read and have to find stated that the game is being developed at the Dice studio overseas. The about 150 people if I remember the article correctly.

DICE talks Star Wars: Battlefront

Battlefield 4’s executive producer Patrick Bach has discussed the progress on DICE’s upcoming Star Wars: Battlefront title, revealing that the team has yet to decide whether to make the game feel more like Battlefield or previous Star Wars: Battlefront titles.

“We haven’t really locked that down yet,” Bach told VideoGamer.com earlier today when asked which direction DICE was taking for the upcoming reboot, and whether it would feel more familiar to Battlefield players than Battlefront fans.

“I think there’s of course a part of the DICE DNA to build the games that we’re building, but then again we’re building games like Mirror’s Edge as well. So I think it will be a challenge for us.

“[You’re] damned if you do, damned if you don’t,” he continued. “People don’t want another Battlefield with Star Wars graphics; they want a Star Wars game that is proper.

“But then again, if you compromise brilliant design choices from Battlefield just because you’re not allowed from some kind of moral standpoint, then I think that’s also wrong. We need to make the best game possible. What that means in detail, we will see.”
