Kratos doesn't appear in the story mode. That is Quan Chi. The story is basically a retelling/re-imagining of the events of MK 1-3, so it wouldn't make much sense to have Kratos in it.

Not sure that needed a spoiler tag, but I know some people don't want to know anything about the story before playing it.

I cannot do Ermac's fatalities. LOL Just can never get them to work right. But in other news, won like 5 or 6 in a row using him online.

I also saw in the Toys R Us ad where they are saying new DLC fighters this Wednesday. No clue if that's just skins or what, but it's in their ad.

I miss are Havik, Kenshi, and Bo' Rai Cho.

Kenshi was my favorite Kombatant off all.

Also, this game is incredible. I haven't even touched story mode. Just doing challenges and random ladder fights. At challenge 40 or somewhere around there.
I need a new controller though, my O button is sticking and it's making it incredibly difficult to pull off combos as you have to be super quick on the presses. I tried opening it up to clean it but I couldn't get to the rubber peice without removing some other part.

Try holding block when you input the directions. It makes it so your guy doesn't move. Just make sure to let go of block before you press the final button. It really helps me on fatalities that involve pushing up, like Ermac's.

plus make sure ur at the right distance. remember sweep range is close without touching them and jump distance is basically where you are when u start a match.

Also I will add, you don't need to feel "rushed" and enter them in so fast like back in the day. Sometimes too fast enters it in wrong or you accidentally hit an angle.

Just a smooth entering of the commands and it seems to perform well.
