Gamescom: Details on GoldenEye Reloaded's MI6 Ops

When GoldenEye 007: Reloaded is released on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 later this year, it won't just add high-definition graphics to the previously Wii-exclusive shooter. It's also adding a new mode called MI6 Ops. These are arcade missions outside of the campaign that offer specific objectives. There are four different MI6 Ops games: Elimination, Defense, Stealth, and Assault.

Elimination: Kill a set number of enemy soldiers as quickly as you can.
Stealth: Make it through the level without being detected by enemies.
Defense: Protect a computer terminal against waves of enemies.
Assault: Charge an enemy base with guns blazing.

From what I can tell, it looks like the MI6 Ops will be available to play right from the start.

As a side note, the developer confirmed today that the PlayStation 3 version of GoldenEye 007: Reloaded will support the PlayStation Move Sharp Shooter gun.

Activision today announced that GoldenEye 007: Reloaded will be getting a special Move bundle when it launches on PlayStation 3 this fall, called the “Double 0 Edition.”

Bundled with the game in the Double 0 Edition is a PlayStation Move motion controller, a PlayStation Eye, a navigation controller, and the Sharp Shooter peripheral.

The remastered version of the Wii title, will also feature PS3-exclusive content such as a downloadable character. A villain from the 1979 James Bond film Moonraker, Hugo Drax and his Moonraker laser pistol.

No price has been announced for the bundle yet, but expect to find out before the game releases on PS3 November 1.

        Whoa!!!!!!

Too many shooters coming out this fall. No way I'll have time to give my full attention. I may have to rent this. Loved Goldeneye 64.

            Re: Goldeneye (Wii)/Goldeneye Reloaded (PS3/360)

            Absolutely terrible.
The hit detection rivals Black Ops for worst ever with the get shot through walls, tanks, doors and from 3 floors up through stairs or any other type of cover because of ridiculous AI lock-on of Just Cause 2. It's not as glitchy as Black Ops though I have seen a guy shoot at me backwards while he was running away, didn't get my achievement for dancing in the club and a mission I started at 7:05 that I finished at 7:30 register as taking 43 minutes. Speaking of achievements this is one of those mess your score up games if yours hasn't been messed up yet. There's a 2 and a 3. The 3 is online only. I've only got a hour or so to go (guess that's 3 hours in Bond time?) so I don't think it'll get any better. (Nope it got even worse.) Most missions are 20-25 minutes and 2 were only about 5. $0.07 is about how much it's worth. My word! How do they release these things?

Just to say something nice about it,the intro with the Goldeneye song was quite spectacular. Do yourself a favor and turn it off after that because that's the peak. All down a very steep hill from there, the club looked nice but you can just look at a screen.

            ~edit~
Forgot to mention how silencers are near useless and the AI has eyes in the back of their head even when wearing a hat. Like shooting a camera with a silencer instantly alerts all enemies in the area to where you are if they can see you or not. Some functions of this game just don't seem to work correctly.

Wow the last missions are the worst thing I've ever played. Protection missions, minor platforming, timers AND quick time events. Everything wrong with gaming all at once. Even worse than NHL 12 and NFS The Run. I want to snap the disc so no one else ever has to play this game but I'm sure I'd have to replace it.

Didn't even remember to mention the nice little bow on top being that it froze up between the 2nd last and last mission or the unresponsive subduing that'll oft result in the guy getting pistol whipped in the butt instead of the actual takedown.

Final score 0.07/30 only getting points for the awesome intro.

Played this at a friend's house last night, 4 people and wow! Like mentioned it is crap with terrible hit detection. Gun balance is terrible. Despite having 5-6 rifles, picking one only makes sense. Should have never been released.

Yikes. I have this coming from GF tomorrow or friday.

Oh well, looks like I'll be able to send it back in time to (hopefully) get Saints Row. I will give it a whirl though, because I haven't played a bond game since Goldeneye on N64.

It has five reviews up and they are all at least an 8/10.

I saw the reviews and I don't get it. All four of us last night were huge Goldeneye fans from the 64 days and were pretty disappointed. It had its fun moments but to me the game has some of the worse hit detection I've played. And when I get a kill I don't even feel like it. Just seems random to me.

Uhm, the original had pretty bad hit detection. It's goldeneye, it takes a while to die. It's not Call of Duty where it's realistic and takes 3 shots to die.

Yah and Fallout 3 and RDR got GotY awards when they were full of game breaking (or at least reseting) glitches.

Still though you aim at someones head, pull the trigger and hit them you expect it's a headshot and you expect them to die. Except they stagger back because they were somehow hit in the body instead. This was particularly evident in the finale where I tried to shoot him in the nuts 3 times but it hit nothing at all instead and had to play that whole terrible thing over again. Even then the original was on the N64,what? 15 years ago? I think they can do a bit better now.

I know it's not COD. However, emptying a clip into someone only to have them turn around and kill you with one shot is not fun. And no they didn't have the golden gun. Another is shooting someone with an RPG. Same issue. Sometimes the explosives work, sometimes they don't. I can't comment on anything else as I've only played 4 player split screen mode.

Looks like it's intentional. When you took perfect aim at someones head in the original it wasn't an instant head shot. You could sneak up on someone and put a few rounds in their head and they could still turn around and get into a gun battle. We still fire up the game once in a while and I am the only one capable of actually aiming, yet it still takes a long barrage of shots to kill them.

I'm sure there are some issues, but it sounds like both of you were expecting some modern shooter. They needed this to appeal to the people who had great memories playing Goldeneye growing up, but haven't touched any other video game ever and couldn't handle a realistic shooter.

No that's part of the problem too. It plays like Call of Duty. Big lack of Bond gadgets. In fact the only thing I recall using was the smartphone to auto hack a few things and night vision. He didn't even ask for a martini! (Shaken, not stirred!)
