    Rayman Origins

Coming to XBLA, PSN This Year

According to Ubisoft's about page for Rayman Origins, the game will be hitting Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network in time for the holidays this year. It is dubbed "Episode 1," with further episodes promised for 2011.

Rayman Origins was announced at E3 with no specific target platforms offered at that time. Ubisoft's page claims that Wii, PC, iPad, and 3DS versions of the game are being considered, but nothing is confirmed at this point.

Anyone gonna get this game? Comes out Nov 15. I remember playing this a lot when I was younger.

This game is gorgeous in motion. It really shows what can be done with a 2D-platformer on the PS360. Music is great. Controls are tight. I really enjoyed the demo and it looks fairly challenging from the video after the demo. Now to decide between this, SR3, and AC:R next week.

          IGN Review- 9.5

Sadly, the past few years seem to have convinced some critics all that "artsy" platforming games ought to be short affairs, best suited for the flimsy world of DLC. Rayman is much, much better than that.

There are a magnitude of stages to explore here, **** boss fights, unlockable character skins, hidden stages galore and hours upon hours of frantic fun. The notion that imaginative visuals and matinee-priced entry fees need be mutually exclusive is one Rayman Origins continues to dispel as hour after hour of gaming joy continue to ramp up in both sheer scope and in grand gratification. Rayman Origins takes on a genre mastery of ground work laid down decades ago and elevates it to astronomical new standards. It's a spectacular living painting that's as much fun to play as it is to look at, and it's a total triumph. Your move, video game industry.
In a blockbuster holiday season of M-rated war games, it’s refreshing to see something so different and special as Rayman Origins. It’s downright gorgeous and a total blast to play alone or with friends. A truly realized vision at the top of its genre, Rayman Origins is an extravaganza with plenty of action to keep it fresh from start to finish and beyond.

Destructoid: You should be paying attention to Rayman Origins

Rayman Origins is out next week. Sadly, yet understandably, there isn't a noticeable buzz surrounding the title -- certainly not at the level of productivity-enders Modern Warfare 3 and Skyrim.

It is a full-priced 2D platformer, which rubs some people the wrong way. However, and I can't stress this enough, I'm not going to be surprised if Rayman Origins ends up being my favorite game of 2011, based on what I've played of it so far. Fan of classic Rayman or not, you owe it to yourself to try the demo.

It's pretty much happiness incarnate. Conrad will have the review up before the game hits store shelves. It's not too late to get this one on your radar.

            Re: Rayman Origins

But how long does it last? Particularly with it having originally been a downloadable game. The IGN review didn't seem to mention it.

I watched someone play it earlier,it does look very good but if it's only 2 hours long...

Actually it comes with a code for BG&E HD with a pre-order at Gamestop. So that'll do.

Damn 9.5. Didn't think it would get that high of a score.

                  Destructoid - 9.0

I adored my experience playing Rayman Origins and I'm certain that anybody with a love for 2D platform games will feel the same. It stands tall in the field as being one of the best of its kind in this console generation and supplies ample hope that there's not only plenty of life still in that genre, but in Rayman as a franchise.
                  Joystiq Review - 5/5

Like the games of my youth, Rayman Origins has almost no modern features. What it does have is an overwhelming sense of joy that I haven't felt for a very long time. Rayman Origins embodies the kind of creativity and craftsmanship that have been largely missing in 2D platfomers since their heyday in the 16-bit era.

Rayman Origins is The Best 2D Platformer Not Called Mario
                  Game Informer - 8.5

One of the things that I appreciate about Rayman Origins is how it constantly shovels new things at the player. Whether it’s a new ability, new gameplay styles, an unlockable character, or another breathtaking level to discover, Rayman doesn’t stick to the same old path too long. And even when Rayman delves into themes and areas that seem to be mandatory for platform games in general, Ubisoft puts enough of a twist on the norm to make it seem fresh again. I never thought I’d look forward to playing underwater levels, but between the exceptional diving controls and the sea anemone backdrops that approach photorealism, I was absolutely hooked.

Rayman Origins is the proper way to catch up with the character, who finally has a game that puts him squarely in the majors.

I played the demo on PS3 and this game looks fantastic. The art style, the colors, everything just pops out. The game itself is fantastic as well.

I'll definitely consider getting this in the future.

Just played the demo and I was really impressed! The visuals are pretty amazing and the "feel" of the controls seemed perfect. Plenty of small details. The game just gave off a polished feel.

Also, you can't help but smile and laugh while playing. Plenty of charm in this one. I definitely want to pick it up. But there are SOOO many games!!!! It may have to wait until next year.
