They would go crazy no matter what happened. As soon as Bioware announced a sequel there were people ready to complain before they knew anything about it.

A ton of folks have been melting down on the Bioware DA 2 boards, proclaiming gloom and doom and chastising Bioware for "selling out" to the console crowd. Its hilarious.

I've been playing their games since BG 1 in '98 and consider myself a hardcore rpg player, but I recognize that this game will be releasing in 2011 not 2000. Games have evolved, and old school players can either roll with the changes or stop playing games and sit around crying about the good old days.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

I've been playing games like this since the Bard's Tale and I am glad they have made these changes. On a personal level, being older and with kids, I am more interested in having an enjoyable experience than being stat crazy. I loved the first DA and am replaying it on the Ultimate Edition using my PS3. That is rare for me. Some may argue that Bioware is dumbing down the RPG. I say they are strengthening games in the fantasy genre. You know who else likes these games? People that went to see the LOTR movies or read the Wheel of Time. DA had a really good story and some interesting characters. It did a lot of things really well.

I had already pre-ordered anyway, but I'm very happy that the pre-order party member is a archery based rogue with what seems to be a excellent quest line. He'll be a mainstay in my party.

I would say no since this storyline already has a title character.

I'm still waiting for Bioware to make an RPG that makes your previous save hero be at least an NPC, preferrably the villain.

You do import your save. If you don't have a save you get to pick from 3 options.
This game is about a blight survivor named Hawke. You still get to customize everything else.

Starting out the game, players are tasked to select from three builds to carry over from the first game if they don’t have a save to upload. The three builds are as follows:[8]

                              * "Hero of Ferelden" (Default): Ended Fifth Blight by killing Archdemon and survived. Placed Alistair on the throne.

                              * "The Martyr": Young Dalish Elf who died to kill the Archdemon. She left the kingdom ruled by Alistair and Anora.

                              * "No Compromise": Dwarven noble took command of Grey Wardens. Exiled Alistair, sent Loghain to his death against Archdemon, and left Anora as Ferelden’s ruler.
Dragon Age II is the sequel to Dragon Age: Origins developed by BioWare. It was announced for PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 on July 8, 2010[1][2] and for Mac on January 12, 2011.[3] The first CGI trailer, Destiny, was released on August 17, 2010.[4] A demo was released on February 22, 2011.[5] It was released on March 8, 2011 in North America, March 10, 2011 in Australia and March 11, 2011 in Europe. A sequel, Dragon Age: Inquisition, was released on November 18, 2014. Main article...

You can't import your character, but you can import a saved game from Origins or Awakenings, or one or two of the other DLC's. This means that a few of the key decisions that your characters made in the earlier game will impact the DA 2 universe.
