I'm already blown away and we've only seen a couple of official videos.

Re: Battlefield 3
Battlefield 3 To Have Smaller Maps on Consoles, Melee Fighting
At the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2), DICE had a special screening for Battlefield 3. Some new details have been unearthed courtesy of Cerfy.
It’s been confirmed that the PC version of Battlefield 3 will have 64 players in a game. Consoles will only have 24. Both versions will have vehicles such as tanks, choppers, and jets. A big concern for many is how will DICE ensure that the console version – with its lower player count, be able to handle all that without anyone being lost in the map or at the very least, maps feeling desolate.
The answer the DICE representative gave is that the maps will be scaled down for the console version to fit the 24 player limit. What about jets and choppers you might ask? They will be given a larger fly zone compared to the terrain players on the ground are able to traverse.
The demonstration also revealed a melee sequence with punches, blocks, and even a throw maneuver. Keep in mind that this has been seen in the single-player demo and has not been confirmed to be in multiplayer yet. The recent GDC closed doors showing seemed to talk about a similar melee scenario but that was a Quick Time Event. No word if the scenario showed at C2E2 was the same footage.
Battlefield 3 is set to do battle against this year’s annual iteration of Call of Duty this coming fall.

Re: Battlefield 3
I'm thinking about building a new PC just for this game. I know $1500 for one game is a little ridiculous, but 64 players on one map sounds so damn amazing. Not to mention PC is the lead platform.2006 - present, NY Mets Season Ticket HolderComment

Re: Battlefield 3
If multi-player can be as huge as BF2, with all the plane, helicopter, and vehicle use, and the teamwork/destructive environments of BF:BC2... then this will be, IMO, the best online FPS warfare game to date!
And I think they will deliver. I am so stoked! Especially when they said, PC first and foremost!Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment
