BFBC2 was my first real forray into FPS war games. What a ride it has been. I still play with a bunch of great squad mates. Anyway like most I started as a deadly sniper. But I learned the real fun is getting your uniform dirty and getting into the battle. My favorite class is Assault. I love laying down oodles of smoke as my squad rushs in to take a flag or blow a com station.

Medic and Engineers are also a ton of fun.

Last night I played for an hour and tried going back to recon. I was bored stiff. Yeah...it is cool and getting a good position and taking out guys with deadly accuracy can be very important to clear an area so your team can move in...also the effective mortar strike is very helpful as well as spotting for squad mates (non hardcore mode) and using sensors. But overall...it is bland.

I am glad some still like it as Recon is needed in the overall battle.

What happened is it got out of hand and became a snipe fest. Too many solo players etc and it started to ruin the squad based team approach that I love to play.

I just started playing again for the first time is at least 6-7 months and the game feels so fresh again and most of the public servers have good quality players and matches again. Playing prvate matches though is the way to go when you can get 12 on 12. What a difference.

BC3 looks sick and will be a day one purchase.

Hey guys, I was looking at the Batman thread and saw that WTF had posted a link to a sale on newegg.com that goes until Sunday which features Battlefield 3 for $49.00. It also has free shipping and includes the map pre order bonus. Link :http://www.newegg.com/emailpromo/?cm...List_email.png

Edit: To apply the promo code, you must sign up for the Newegg e-blast thing (registration for site sales, etc.). The shipping is also "3 day guaranteed" and I've heard good things about their pre-orders from the Madden forums over the years.

                Multiplayer Hands On

The traditional Medic is gone: now the Assault class carries all the first-aid gear. The aim is to take the medic's team abilities to the frontline, providing assistance where it's really needed without leaving the class underpowered or slowed by heavy weapons...

There is a trade-off, though. Using the defib paddles now takes a little time - you must hold down the trigger to fire a jolt into your fallen friend - and there's a cool-down period afterwards. Oh, and if you're the person being revived, you have the option to refuse and respawn.

So what's replaced the Medic? Now you have the Support class... At first we felt Support was just there to make up the numbers, to dish out ammo and shoot down light helicopters, but we were wrong.

Support is the king of the new suppression fire system. Here, if someone is spraying you with bullets it puts your character under stress, something evinced with screen shake and blur. It's a subtle effect, but it means if you're getting battered by constant fi re you can't just pop out and fire off a clean headshot... well, not without substantial skill. You're also rewarded for suppression in the same way you are for spotting - with XP - adding further tactical depth. Now you're rewarded for keeping enemies pinned down while your teammates sneak, say, up a tunnel, or move to flank the opposition. It seems a small thing, perhaps, but when the community get hold of it, expect some smart, smart play.

                  Battleblog #3: Battlelog

Never go into battle alone again thanks to the powerful new community features of Battlelog, Battlefield 3’s unique no-cost social network. “We want to make Battlefield 3 a more social gaming experience and it all starts with Battlelog,” says Fredrik Loving, Battlelog Producer at DICE. “We are changing how you communicate, play, compete and share content with their friends, extending the in-game experience to be accessible from your home computer, on your handheld devices while commuting, or wherever you may be." And that’s what DICE set out to do.

With Battlelog, players will be able to build a network of friends, communicate with other gamers, and compare their Battlefield stats with friends and foes alike. It brings all of the social aspects of Battlefield into a single location, allowing you to coordinate any action at the push of a button and get into the game as easily as possible. What’s the cost for Battlelog? Nothing. It’s absolutely free.

Guess you don't need the MOH disc for the early beta. Just got an email from EA thanking me for buying MOH and I'm still going to get a code for the earlier BF3 beta.
