I still wouldn't consider it camping, if the guy was sitting back and spotting and doing other things to help.

I never snipe, but I don't mind those who do if they actually use the spot feature. Problem is, most haven't been.

On the PC people spot like crazy... the lone-wolf mentality is way too prevalent on the console. That is why I can not wait to play with people on here for the PS3... gon' wreck peeps!

Exactly. To me, camping is hiding in a little nook or around a wall just to kill someone when they come through a door. Laying prone facing an obvious entrance to the underground area for example, is not camping. If you're foolish enough to be sprinting around and just run into areas like that instead of slowly moving in and checking for people waiting to kill you, then you had it coming.

Are there campers? Yes. Are there as many as some people think? No. I encountered that in BC2 as well. People who are used to simply running around non-stop considering people holding tactical positions to be camping. They're not. They're just playing the game better than you are. It's not CoD. It's time to adapt.

Anyway, I played a few games last night on 360 and it was a blast. Each time I was killed I felt that I was going too fast and not properly checking areas before darting across them. This game definitely rewards the patient.

If it's anything like it was with BC2, the PS3 guys here are going to clean house. I'll just be glad to get to play on a bigger map with vehicles.

Agreed with the both of you. On the PC it is way more challenging and good squads make for some pretty even matches. With winning or losing by a hair at the last second. The majority is more tactical in playing.

Console gamers as a collective are not as "tactical"... more run and gun, and the largest selling franchises for FPS games (Halo/CoD) has a lot to do with shaping that play style. They promote lone wolf, Rambo, every man for himself play.

Maybe a hair more tactical players for the PS3 since they have a following in games like SOCOM and MAG where it promotes that play style. But I still see a lot of run and gun the PS3 beta. Was laying on a rock protecting a base, and killed 15 people in a row sniping. 15-0 K/D that round. Because players could not figure it out, spot my sniper ***, and I had the sun in their eyes vantage point. Then the game got all messed up and servers pooped out.

This is really a stupid question, especially since I played BF on PC, but how do I go prone in BF3 on PC, and how do I make it so when I crouch he stays crouched and I don't need to hold the shift key. Oh, and how do I zoom in and stay zoomed in? Is that possible?

I had a great run underground crouched behind some broken rocks and people just kept running out of a door across the terminal and I shot down 11 straight people until someone finally got wise to what was going on and I was flushed out. It's amazing how much you can accomplish just by sitting still for a few moments, instead of running around like crazy.

I'm trying to be patient, because there are so many guys playing this that have never played a Battlefield game. I wish people would use the spotting feature and actually throw down health, ammo, etc.

Again, I'm taking it for what it's worth, this will be a completely different game once a lot of the run and gun COD players are gone.
On 11/08 this game becomes super awesome and thats hard to do when you actually loose players.

                      Sent from here to there.
I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!

Hahaha, until you learn the maps, it happens.

If you get killed once like that by someone, it's alright. If you then get killed immediately again by them, you didn't learn the lesson. That is one way to get better. When you die, learn from what you did. Sometimes it's more random chance, but if someone had an advantage on you, know why. Where are they? Are they there now? Is there usually someone there?

This is why I love BF. You get far more hide, shoot, hide, shoot battles with someone instead of just starring at each other in the middle of a road and emptying a clip into each other. Being pinned down with some teammates and trying to work your way out of it is just brilliant.

Between playing Gears, Medal of Honor online and now this Beta I am a mess with the controls, lol. I never played battlefield so I am not really sure what I am doing, tends to make for an easy target!

Why? I am not a fanboy of either game, but I have played the Beta and I am not sure it smokes COD just yet. Of course I have not seen their latest offering.

Yes, I can see this aspect for sure. I do like those types of battles. They are great on the escalator and outside the building.

Yeah I agree with the camping arguments. The moment I first played the game I immediately saw people playing "smart" and taking positions and then moving them according to the circumstance or activity in the area. I learned and picked up..***n and gun works better on COD because of all the perks and un human like movements a little arcadish IMO, but this game has consequences for rushing into to areas, just like real life combat.

Im liking so far because is refreshing from COD for me and I can't wait for the full version. Kinda hard to knock a "limited" beta because there's more to come.
