Exactly. Most people who think they "suck" is due to them not being a run and gun kill machine.

The beauty of this game, is that it offers rewards for suppression, spotting, and support. So while you may "think" you suck, cause we are stuck in the K/D mentality the FPS genre has shaped over the years, you may actually rock at other aspects!

I just wish they reworked the points. I love conquest, but the points actually reward leaving a flag to allow the other team to capture it (so you can capture it again). For example, last night I played conquest on caspian border. It was literally me and a guy on the opposite team going around to each flag to capture them. While I took A, he took C, while I took B, he took D, etc, etc. meanwhile the rest of our team was just out trying to kill people. What's worse is I was MVP and I don't even think I should've been because I just kept leaving bases unguarded.

Some will probably frown on this but Best Buy has the Strategy guide for this game for $9.99 on sale this week only. Didn't really need it but snagged it anyway. Might be a help for some that are new to the series. A 350 page guide I might add.

Q on the PC as default mapping.

For some odd reason I can't spot people on PC. I re mapped my button to the C key, and it won't let me spot. I've tried spotting people and I've even spotted vehicles, but no orange triangle shows up... I know BF3 has that new system in place for spotting where the orange triangle only shows in certain circumstances, but when I tried to spot a tank last night, it was blatantly right in front of me, and no orange mark.

Yep... you K/D ratio could be 2/9, but you could lead the team in points doing other things, which is awesome.

Console or PC?

There is nothing but spotting on the PC and plenty of suppression teamwork.

Console, most have to break out of the CoD type game mechanic. Once they do that, things will open up to them more.

Console. Maybe so... Seemed like more people spotted on BC2.

I didn't even install the single player disk. I just installed the multiplayer disk and was prompted to install the HD pack, that was all I needed to do to get the graphics upgrade, correct? People saying there is a disk for the graphic upgrades is throwing me. There is only two disks, single player and multiplayer...

That is what I did. Only two discs (SP and MP) and the graphic upgrades will be a prompt at the start-up screen (not on a disc). It is 1.7gb download.

Great post. This is the fundamental paradigm shift in FPS gameplay that I have to grasp! I've got to use patience...I might even have to verbally repeat that to myself when I play.

And I have to throw out the ingrained notion that I'm ONLY helping my team if I'm killing a lot (which is not a strength of mine in FPS's, aside from an occasional 'hot streak').

Sounds to me like that was the problem. Why should you guard the base you just captured when you can go and capture another one just as easily. You have an entire team that could/should have been protecting the bases you were getting, rather than doing what they were doing, which was probably playing like it was TDM.

Nothing wrong with just running around capturing bases, that is a job someone has to do (and from the sound of it, you did it very well). It seems like it was the other people on your team that weren't doing their "jobs".

Lol. You all were killing my team. I didn't know you can switch teams until after the session was over.

I laughed when I doubled killed you and Jvalverde with a tank round. But of course Incredible was there to kill me after. It never failed.

But you also get crazy points for defending it. And if told to defend by the squad leader, extra points on top of that.

They were fine all yesterdayfor me until the evening and that's when I started having trouble.
