Re: Battlefield 3
I've been having a hey-day in these types of games on Conquest. I run back and forth from flag to flag and neutralize and capture them. 75% of the time there is no one guarding the flag. If there is, it usually is not anything well thought out. Got in with a buddy last night and even just the two of us working together with this strategy was pretty amazing, and we are still pretty terrible at the game. If we would get a couple more average players with us, we could do some real damage.
I think people will start learning how to play each game over the course of the next couple weeks.
THEN here is the main point no one understands. DEFEND those 2 points only! No running all over the map, the enemy has to come to you and if most of the team is divided evenly between those two points then 90% chance the enemy is not going to hit your location with enough "togetherness" to punch through and take point. People may die but they can spawn right back again at the point that needs defending.
This game people play where they run from point to point is why you see points being lost and regained all damn match. Because to many people are running in that empty space part of the map between points. Now when we got our full squad in party chat we can maintain this and destroy in points compared to all the lone run and gunners. But it still does suck that people can't grasp how to play conquest!
The shotty is BEAST Candy! I love to use it but I hate sacrificing certain items to carry two weapons. I am for sure not rocking just a shotgun because I would be out ranged most of the time with how open most maps are. Only 1 or 2 maps could rock just the shotty.Last edited by Phobia; 10-31-2011, 09:45 AM.Comment

Re: Battlefield 3
Thanks for the tip on clan tags (battlelog). Got my (OS) tag up now so you guys will know it's me who just died (OS) SoundChaser67
Regardless, I'm having a great time. I"m not an online player much; MW2 really soured me on the whole thing after really enjoying COD4 and Gears.
I'm still just mediocre, but I don't feel pressure to be awesome in this game to enjoy myself, just help the team as best I can: suppressing fire, spotting, ammo/health disbursements, guarding MCOMs or blowing them. Hell, even just giving a squadmate a lift in a jeep or APC.
I have a .292 k/d and it doesn't bother me....I'm having fun.
Now I need to try some OTHER modes aside from Rush! I'm concerned TDM is where all the MW fans are playing...but I've never played a game like Conquest before.Last edited by Lieutenant Dan; 10-31-2011, 09:54 AM.GO 'HAWKS!

Re: Battlefield 3
Thanks Erick, I am going to focus on the M416 from here on out.
Nothing directed at you BD, but this is the main issue with randoms, they run from point to damn point. The entire point of Conquest is to maintain 2/3rds of the points. Capturing every point should not be the goal. If you are on a map with 3 capture points then your team should focus on capturing nearest point to your base, then middle base.
THEN here is the main point no one understands. DEFEND those 2 points only! No running all over the map, the enemy has to come to you and if most of the team is divided evenly between those two points then 90% chance the enemy is not going to hit your location with enough "togetherness" to punch through and take point. You are spot on my man. I hate when I play with people and we have two bases covered and then guys just go after a different capture base only to leave one covered by a guy or two and they end up giving them that base.
I will say this, when I play with randoms that seem to only care about their K/D ratio, I will try to secure as many bases as I can to get more points, as those guys do not care about wins and losses.Comment

Re: Battlefield 3
I think claymores may be a little weak also. I set one down in a doorway and then another on the stair case while I was on the second floor of a building. I heard both go off and saw the damage indicator twice but the one guy managed to survive and kill me. It showed he only had 1% health left.Comment

Re: Battlefield 3
I have a question I'm hoping someone can help me understand. For the US as an engineer you start with the M4A1. However, at 40,000 you unlock the 'M4'. However, when I look at the weapon on Battlelog, it just brings up the M4A1.
Now, there is a separate M4A1 unlock for the Russians, which I then assumed meant you can use that gun as a Russian. But, what is with the 'M4' unlock?NFL - Giants]

Re: Battlefield 3
I'm kinda new to the non sports gaming side of OS. But I've been playing this game for the past couple days and it's addicting!!! There's nothing better then getting into a good squad and holding down an alley way or capture point the whole game.
That being said is there a way to add OS'ers (PS3) so I don't have to worry about playing with randoms?... sorry I'm at work and don't have the time to read through other posts.Comment

Re: Battlefield 3
I've seem teammates hunkered down about 40 yards from an uncontested base just chilling. Move in 20 yards and they would have captured a flag. Not rocket science. This tactic obviously does not work when you are playing against a well coordinated team that is actually defending bases. But works wonderfully for those that are playing completely disorganized.
I'm also getting slowly better at the game, where I will stand a chance to stick around and defend the bases when we get all three of them. Again, does not work very well when you are the only one at the base cause everyone else is flying airplanes and messing around with other vehicles./bdComment

I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!
