Jnes it just happens lol. I need to check how many MVP ribbons I have, but last time I checked I finished top 3 60% of games played with a third of that being in first.

The motion sensor sucks IMO use the MAV...in one game I played I probably had 2 kills only but I was top 3 because of the MAV and using it properly by having it high in the sky spotting enemies and not trying to ram people with it.

You get these great assets to use and people never use them properly.

I just checked, and according to bf3stats,

      I've got 31 mvp ribbons, 34 mvp 2 ribbons, and 35 mvp 3 ribbons...

I'm not sure whether this is good or not

I just wanted to see if I could carry a team in conquest lol
I had plenty of opportunities to switch teams, but chose not to until it was operation metro. I didn't want to risk being pushed back into deployment. It doesn't work out well even if I was using a tank myself, which is my best vehicle/weapon by far. I couldn't take on 2 tanks and several guys with RPGs on the roof. While the rest of my team is enjoying their view sitting passenger of a transport chopper.

That last match on seine crossing... I hopped into the gunner seat of a tank and the dude was driving like a grandma when there was no mines or enemies around... We were in our deployment and haven't even crossed the bridge. He sees one guy run across from a to b and he gets scared or something and reverses the t90 into the water. Are you serious???? Never seen such a worthless tank driver in all my time playing battlefield. I think it happened twice actually.

I never use recon and I believe the ugs motion sensor is the only thing I unlocked. Plus there's kind of a roof on operation metro that wouldn't allow you to spot people from way above. Motion sensor worked fine for me. It detected the main areas pretty well. I placed it at the beginning of the game and it lasted all the way to the end.

And Goffs....Are people really trying to ram people with the MAV? lmao.

And what is your guys' opinion of what constitutes a good teammate? I just want to be sure that I'm playing the game the right way.

Right now, I try my best to stick with my teammates. But even when I do, they always end up running off on their own, so I almost always spend my time alone.

When in the gunner seat in the tank, I try to keep an eye out on the sides and the rear of the tank, and take out whoever I see. If we take some damage, I'll hop out and repair. I'll also hop out on occasion after I catch an AT soldier after he's hit us and finds cover. I'm usually able to kill him and hop back in the tank after repairing any damages. Even then, sometimes the driver will just take off and leave me. I'm standing there, torch in hand, like WTF? lol

I'll also hop out to hit an enemy tank with a few shots. Because I don't think the LMG on the tank does much damage to another tank. So I always think I'd be more helpful by getting a few rocket rounds off, instead of just sitting inside.

While being the support class, I've just started using it, I try to just get a lot of suppression fire. I've only been using it in the close quarters maps. But whether or not I see someone, if I have a general idea of where the enemy is, I just let off clip after clip in the general direction. Especially at times when I see that my team is trying to move forward. In my head, I'm thinking that it's making it hard for the enemy to come up from behind their cover or making it difficult to see, which makes it easier for my teammates to take them out or move forward. But I'm really not too sure how helpful I'm really being. lol

As Recon I use the hell out the MAV. Spotting left and right. There are times where we get way behind in flags, and then I'll take the MAV and land it somewhere where it can't be touched or damaged. But it will still be in a high traffic area to help spot enemies on the map because it still works as a UGS even if you're not controlling it. Then I'll try sneaking around and taking flags. I try to put the spawn becon down to, sometimes it gets used a lot, other times, not so much.

As assault, I just try to stay behind the front lines and heal/revive as much as I can.

Other than that, I don't really know what else to do. Like I said, I try to stay with teammates, but they always end up running off on their own. I always thought there was strength in numbers. Sun Tzu even stressed that in the Art of War. But I guess that's not true in BF?

There are a ton of times where I wish I could switch into another class on the spot. Like I'll be recon and be right next to a tank that hasn't noticed me. I just stay in hiding thinking "Damn. Wish I was Engineer or Support right now. Or I'm support and have teammates body strewn all over the place, crossbones everywhere on my screen. I just sit there thinking "Damn. Wish I was Assault right now." Too many times I've noticed that everyone is the same class.

Now, I'm no expert, and I'm not claiming to be right. But I would think that a good squad would stick together as much as possible. And on top of that, they'd all be different classes. If anything, maybe two of a certain class given the situation. That way, no matter what situation comes up, we have a solution. I could just imagine how sweet it would be to have this.

But anyways, sorry for the long post. But what are some tips/suggestions/thoughts on being a good teammate?

You should give it a shot. I would be just as frustrated as you are if I waited around for the teams to even up.

@ Tmagic - You're right on the money - I was in a clan for bfbc2 and that's basically how we ran it - We'd use a set up that was 2 medics, an assault, and an engineer, or the same except with 2 engineers depending on the map. We'd only use recon if it wasn't a vehicle centered map and we had a sniper that could deal with CQB or was using an all kits weapon. We also all stayed on coms so we'd know where everyone was, who needed ammo or health etc - We could also coordinate runs to get flags.

                          - Stick mostly with assault/engineer.
                          - If assault make sure you're dropping med kits frequently in high traffic areas. Medics being stingy with kits is one of my biggest pet peeves right now.
                          - If engineer make sure you pay significant attention to any vehicles within striking distance. Vehicles that go unchecked can really swing a battle.
                          - Remember that tanks are generally at their best from mid-long range. They're basically mobile artillery in use and it's tough to protect them when they're surrounded by enemies. Opponents just hide behind boxes and getting a few rocket strikes in becomes no problem. Religiously look out for mines too. They are very spottable IMO.
                          - Not sure what game modes you prefer but Rush is my mode of choice and I think the key to it is sticking together with your squad. The worst thing that an attacking team can do is stagger an attack. A couple guys here, a couple there, and it's easy for a defense to just keeping picking them off one or two at a time. Swarm and if you break the defense once it's enough.
                          - There's also a certain synergy when sticking together. Being able to revive a squadmate when they're down is huge and so is taking down a tank when the rest of the squad is blocked by it.
                          - If there's a log jam at a choke point and you're a medic stay toward the back and revive as much as possible... then hope someone breaks through. Giving your team another 10-15 tickets through revives can be a huge difference maker.

But I'm really not too sure how helpful I'm really being. lol
That's the definition of suppression fire. I wish more people would do that.

                                Also watch the 6.

I always thought there was strength in numbers. Sun Tzu even stressed that in the Art of War. But I guess that's not true in BF?
Play with people you know bro. Playing with strangers on here is ok, but you will get mopped when playing against a team communicating.

I've committed suicide on a regular basis in order to switch to a class that is really needed at the moment. Of course I won't do it if the game is close.
