Re: Battlefield 3
The people that say that tanks are "cardboard boxes" now don't know what they are talking about. I did this alone (my original intention was to just get in a jet until I unlocked rocket pods but both were taken when I joined so I hopped in a tank alone) with no one repairing me or even being a gunner

Re: Battlefield 3
I did not enjoy Arica Harbor on rush as that map was prevalent for tanks to sit back and snipe the MCOM. Didn't even need to plant it for the first two or three sets.
Also, choppers were a nightmare on BC2. The anti air guns were all destructible so it wasn't a reliable weapon. You had to get lucky with an rpg shot/tracer while he circles around you at a ridiculous speed in your deployment spawn. Although the chopper vs chopper battles was more skill based then it is now. Your gunner had to have great aim to take out the other chopper first, there were no heatseekers. Now it's just basically who can get their missiles off first.
The hit detection was even worse in BC2 then it is now. Half the time you can't even take someone's tags because it just gives you that swipe and hit marker. There was no animation for a takedown.
I did like that the blackhawk was actually useful in BC2 though. The transport chopper in BF3 usually just sits at the spawn for the entire game because it's so easy to take down with Jets/stingers/javelins.Last edited by mikenoob; 04-19-2012, 10:30 PM.Comment

Re: Battlefield 3
I was never a great pilot with the attack helicopters, but since circle stafeing was so easy, I was a damn good transport pilot. Especially on maps like Isla Inocentes, where it was the quickest way across the water.
It seems like I took down more choppers in BC2. I usually got them with an RPG easier than I did trying to guide the other launcher.Comment

Re: Battlefield 3
In a way, I think BF3 took a step back with the Frostbite 2 engine. BC2 just had the environment down., The colors were vibrant and the game really felt alive. They aren't really using the engines potential in BF3. The destruction isn't that good and some maps have been overdone with the blue tint.
I miss knowing that regardless of which wall I shot, I was putting a hole in the building and almost any building could come down. While some hated it, I was okay with the MCOMS inside a building being taken, when the building was destroyed. It's up to the defenders to prevent it from happening."If you don't have anything good to say, say it often"- Ed the sockComment

Something needs to be done about that damn M26.
Just played a a couple matches. Guy on opposing team led his team with 31 kills total...and all 31 were from the M26. Next round, leads his team with 63 kills...59 from the M26.
Then next round, I guess one of his teammates picked up on how well it was working, because he starts using the gun and proceeds to lead the team with 52 kills...45 from the M26.
The gun is cheap as ****. Not as cheap as the USAS...but its still way too effective/overpowered.
EDIT: And whenever I get killed by it since the patch, everybody has the same set up. Underslug/Heavy Barrel.
So evidently everyone knows about the glitch and taking advantage of it. Garbage.Last edited by TMagic; 04-20-2012, 03:12 AM.Comment

Re: Battlefield 3
Attention to all. M26 is a shotgun, shotguns tend to OHK. The heavy barrel glitch increases it's range, not power(when equipped as such and majority do not use it) other than that, quit trying to ruin a gun that was just as strong pre-patch as it is post-patch(just being used more now). Fix the glitch not the gun.

It's not as bad as the USAS because you can only use it with assault and it replaces medkit/M320, but it's pretty damn bad. Once people realize that the G3A3 does the most damage, it will be abused
The funny thing is that DICE almost showed us the glitch with the patch. When looking for new attachments for assault rifles since the foregrip/suppressor combo got nerfed, I decided that I liked heavy barrel/underling rail--which is the glitch. I'm sure a lot of people did the same too.

Re: Battlefield 3
Actually the glitch makes each pellet have the same damage as the regular bullet of the gun. So imagine a shotgun where each pellet does 17 damage minimum and think about how many pellets get fired with each shot.

Re: Battlefield 3
Hated BC2....thought it was trash and the maps were pretty crappy open maps that everybody wanted to snipe on...sucked when 90% of the people on your team were snipingSLIDERS SUCKComment

Re: Battlefield 3
I fired it up again a few weeks after I got BF3, and found that the maps really are pretty cool, incredible destructibility (hell, I had fun just shooting grenades at buildings lol), and the sniper situation seems to have vanished (though it can be hard to find full lobbies anymore....makes for slow games with few people to kill).
I can see revisiting BC2 again, but I need to revisit BF3 this weekend too.GO 'HAWKS!

The range and damage per pellet JNes alluded to is what makes it stupid. If you're killing me with one shot from anywhere outside of 10 feet, thats garbage.
Last night, on Bazaar, Im making my way up to B from the back alleyway/corridor behind the kitchen. They have B, so there are enemies in the room across from the kitchen. Im laying down suppressive fire into the room while staying in the back way to the kitchen so my guys can move up. Then out of nowhere, I just drop...dude killed from within the room across the way with that gun. Garbage.
I actually had my best round on Bazaar, which I always do pretty terribly on. Went something like 41 and 12. I can safely say that at least 8 deaths came from that gun. Most of the time, I had no idea where I was shot and killed from because the guy wouldnt be near me. Again, garbage.Comment

Re: Battlefield 3
I hear what you're saying, Magic.
But I'd take 41-12 ANYTIME under any circumstances, even playing against a whole clan with broken thumbs.GO 'HAWKS!
