Here's how I know I've gotten better for sure

Playing against mike and his friend (dalk2_hk?) and I went like 7-2 against both of them in one game

Before when I played against the other guy he nemesis'd me and I couldn't even touch him

Team balance is also harder to come by. One server I was playing on, the admin was moving all the colonels to one team and non-colonels to the other. I haven't been so lucky getting on strong teams lately as most games are completely one-sided.
This is the main reason I retired this game. It wasn't worth the time anymore.

Ehh, I don't know about that one. We both just jumped on and that was our warmup game. He ended up freezing though at the end of the match and came back on an hour later. I liked that first encounter when you killed both of us on Firestorm A. I ran directly behind him so I had no idea you were even there as we just spawned. I couldn't even react as I just see him drop and then you killed me straightaway as I was basically lined up right behind him.

Kidding aside, like I said months back, You, TMagic, and whoever else I mentioned have definitely improved from what I remember in the early days of BF3.

You were pretty close on dark's name. It's DaI2K_HK, basically just swapped the 2 and the k.

I was feeling a match of Jac, Dark, and myself against team colonels, but my entire team quit and it had to auto balance.

I recall when Magic and I were on a similar level, then he just blasted off into Dog-World and I haven't seen him since LOL. He's become a really good player. His little tag war with Jnes never gets old.

This. I used to enjoy just starting the game up and going to quickplay, but with custom servers the majority of rush games I'm in have a ridiculous amount of tickets and it goes one of two ways. Either the defending team is really good an all but a few players on the attacking teams leave or the attacking team wins because of the mass amount of tickets, there's no close intense games. Another thing that frustrates me is when I hop into a custom game and start to play well against a clan in "their" game and then get booted.
Maybe it's just me but since the patch came out I'm slowly starting to get bored of this game. Good thing Diablo 3s right around the corner.

I must admit to being in a bit of similar place.

I, too, miss good ol' quickplay, which would typically put me in a game at least somewhat commiserate with my skill level/rank. DICE servers are still there but seem to be kind of overwhelmed by the custom servers.

Also, the ability to quit out in between rounds almost seems like it's hurt the game as no one ever seems to stay in a room anymore so there's no consistency.

I believe the IDEAS behind the patch, and specifically rent-a-server, were all sound. But the server thing in particular was implemented seemingly as a complete 'instead of' deal, rather than a nice 'addition'. Rent-a-server should have been a separate selectable tab and the DICE servers and quickplay should have been left 'stock'. Had they taken that approach, I'd still be playing as often as I was.

I keep holding out hope that perhaps DICE will adjust things to what I'd like to see (as I outlined above), and I know many others feel the same way. But the reality doesn't look bright for that, and I'm sad for it because I love this game.

How often are you actually being killed by a sniper though?

Nobody has been that skilled on the consoles that have been able to regularly pick guys off from a distance. At least none that I've ran across.

For me the issue isn't about the sniping, it's the placement of the soflam. It seems indestructible trying to blow it up from the chopper or a jet as I've been on both sides. I've used the soflam and have seen choppers shoot me up with my screen shaking like mad, but was unsuccessful in doing so.

I feel really dumb for asking this, but how the heck do you fire a guided shell? When I am driving a tank I press Y to switch to the guided shell and sometimes it acts like it is locking onto an enemy vehicle but I have no idea what to do from there. I press all kinds of buttons but nothing happens.

You've gotta wait for it to lock on then fire. The beeping tone will be different and the orange box will stay solid instead of flickering. Guided shells are pretty useless now with almost every tank/ifv running smokes. I guess you could use it for aircraft, but the tank cannon and canister shell works for me.

I've had it happen...didnt even notice they were up there until i see the camping sitting there on the kill cam. Then after that i find myself spending the whole round making it my mission to kill them...annoying as hell.Satifying when killing them though but i dont want to have to play like that

                                Isnt that fair though?

If they were easily destroyed by a chopper, they'd have an even better advantage than they already do now. Ground forces wouldnt stand any chance.

I mean, in reality, all it would take is for an infantry to be a team player and take it upon himself to destroy it. It takes teamwork to take down the chopper. It should take a little bit of teamwork to take care of the SOFLAM. It takes nothing for one guy to go over and destroy it.

At least thats how I look at it.
