Just bit on this for 15 bucks shipped like new from Amazon. Looks like a bit of mindless fun. Doubt I get through it with my current backlog but WTF for $15.

For the record, I've logged about 55 hours into this game and still don't have 100%.

Game looks totally over the top. Can you enter at least as many buildings as in the GTA series?

Nah. Only a few shops where you customize your stuff, and any cribs that you own.

It's just a fun and funny game. I will spend hours doing nothing but causing mayhem sometimes.

Graphics are actually better than I thought that they would be and its a lot of fun. The guy who sold me the game included a voucher with a code for SR2 for free. Not a bad deal at all.

If you haven't played SR2 yet - install it and forget about SR3 (or order it - I've no idea if you're playing on a PC or XBOX).

3 is graphically far superior to 2 and 2 has a very sterile feel to it. There is next to no one in the city. Not really far into either game but for pure mindless fun for me its 3 over 2.

Don't get drawn into the SR2 vs SR3 conversation and just enjoy your games.

                            Re: Saints Row: The Third

Up until recently, I have never played a Saints game. A couple of weeks ago I got Saints Row 2, after watching TON of videos. I'm amazed by the attention to detail when it comes to the little things. For example: The chatter from NPCs and the police. Also, cops usually park their vehicle, get cover behind the door, and shoot, which is a really nice touch. There is a lot of randomness in this game, the city does feel alive, to me. Too bad for the dated graphics (even for back then), but the gameplay is GOLD.

I decided to watch some The Third videos recently and liked it a lot. So I went and got The Third as well. I'm keeping it untouched until I actually feel that I had enough of 2. From videos I watched, it seems that they gave up some of the little things that were done nicely in 2. Cops seem to just get out of the car and shoot/stand around. I'm not sure about NPCs chatter, but from what I've seen, the city isn't as alive as in 2.

On the other hand, there are the cops, the STAG, the Luchadores, the Syndicate (is that the same as the STAG?)... I love intense firefights with units/improvised armies, and the gunfights in 3 seem awesome! I also like 3's graphics, don't find anything wrong with it, unlike some critics. I just wish 3 had some level of destruction. Imagine causing damage to buildings (even if all gets restored once you leave the area). I keep feeling that SR needs some destruction, it can make it even more epic.

Still having fun with 2, I still have A LOT to do there. Then, it's going to be 3, all the way. I'm not going to get 4 or newer ones (from what I can tell), because I don't like that over-the-top craziness and ridiculousness. I feel like 3 is just about what I can take, and even a bit too much, which is why I'll probably not going to experience everything the game has to offer.

I still need to get 100% in SR3. I've finished the main story and I'm nearly there.

It was definitely a very, very fun game (it was my first SR as well).

SR2 was one of my top games of the ps3/360 generation. you really hit the nail on the head about how alive the city was. Side Quests were great and the drop in/out co-op was Gold.
