    Re: Saints Row: The Third

By the way, I don't know if this had been posted already in this thread (didn't go through all pages), but to me it's a very interesting video, that gives you some insight into the technical and especially artistic side of developing a game.

It all started with an internal joke and a word that inexplicably caught on...Exaggereal. Exaggereal became the internal name and catchword of the new art style for Saints Row: The Third. In this presentation, Frank Marquart, the art...

2 felt like a city to mess up and goof off in while 3 felt like more of a play area.

The first Saints Row is still my favorite in the series by a good amount and one of my favorite games from all of last gen. It had the perfect balance of wackiness and had so much potential. 2 was still good, but I don't think I ever was able to keep playing 3 enough to beat it and haven't touched 4.

It's weird that 1 had such vibrant colors and nice lighting (too bad no PS3 version), but it was so washed out in 2. I've been watching some videos of 1 and it's actually nice to look at, as old as it is.

From what I've read (well, if you can call looking at Wikipedia actually reading) they had a lot of problems with stability and bugs in the first game. Maybe that's why everything is so washed out and maybe a bit blurry (on the PS3, at least)?

It might be the nostalgia blocking it out, but I don't remember 1 running badly really ever unless every car in view was to blow up. The online in 1 is also another thing that I thought was just amazing at the time and really was just as good as the single player in any of the games in the series. It was a huge shame they scratched it and only kept co-op.

Just for the record the colors were not washed out on the Xbox 360 nor the PC versions...that's a PS3 thing, I played on all 3 and PS3 was the worse of them.

And if you haven't played part 1, you'll miss 89% of the point of 2, and 3. The stories and characters link from the events of the 1st game and also the humor and side jokes always link to the previous games, going into the sequels..

I wish 1 had made it to PC. I would buy it in a heart beat.

Amen. 1 was by far the best of the 4.

Online in SR1 lasted for me 3 years. 06-09 right up until the gang servers got **** down. I have never played a more addicting game online in my life. Good times

Still playing 2 and having a blast. Trying to keep playing it for as long as I can before moving the 3.

By the way, I've seen some videos of 3 and there are signs with colored circles. What do they mean?

I really like those GDC videos (like the one I posted on p. 89). Here is another one, I just started watching it, but I think it's going to be really interesting.
