I'm okay with it. A bit of a longer wait but at least we have a concrete release date (for now). I suppose I'll be switching my pre-order over to The Show.

I'm thinking this. I just don't think Rockstar cares about the timing of next-gen. They know they will still sell millions and millions of copies of the game.

And they've been working on this game forever and it would take even longer for them to just switch over to the new consoles. There's also the fact that the new consoles aren't going to be in over 50 million homes the day they come out. People seem to forget that when new consoles come out, developers don't immediately stop making games for the older ones.

PS2 games are still being made.

FIFA 13 was put out on the PS2, as well as a Final Fantasy Expansion will be released this year.

I'm wondering the same thing. But I find it hard to believe the new consoles would miss the Christmas buying season. I think it would be a bit of a disaster if they waited until spring 2014.

I highly doubt a company like Rockstar is going to release GTA two months before new consoles come out.

Gives me more time to catch up on my backlog of games. Just started up Alice: Madness Returns (Borderlands 2, Forza Horizon, and Dead Space 2 are still sitting on plastic), not to mention all the other games I want play but haven't had the time to play.

How this overlaps with the next generation of consoles doesn't mean much to me. I have no plans on moving onto a newer console until a year after launch at the least.

I dont think the new consoles will have a single effect on Rockstar's sales. Especially a Grand Theft Auto title.

Well, Rockstar is known for delaying their games to do final tuning so this isn't that surprising.

As for the timing in relation to new consoles? Even if the new consoles come out in November they aren't automatically going to be in everyone's homes. I still think this current generation hasn't been exploited to the hilt graphically so I don't know what the rush is for other than maximizing profits but the 360 and PS3 will still have a long shelf life (I believe this generation has at least 3-4 years left of viability) and if the new gen doesn't blow everyone away a lot of people are going to hold off on grabbing the new consoles.

Well that's just my thoughts anyways.

IF next gen systems are released around Christmas 13', then i m pretty sure GTA V will be on both (old gen and next gen), at least a digital version.

Just like SC : Double Agent or NFS Most Wanted.

I don't think Rockstar gives a single **** about when the next consoles come out. Their sales figures are going to be tremendous either way. Also, why not maximize profits on systems that everyone has?
