Re: Grand Theft Auto V
Digital Foundry did their comparison between the PS3 and 360 versions of GTA V. Looks like the PS3 version is the one to get this time around. It was the lead console for development and it shows. There's much more in the article, including pictures and video, so make sure to check it out if you're interested in this sort of comparison.
However, it's apparent that the PS3 version has an undeniable advantage in one area: even to the naked eye, ground textures on 360 are blurred as a result of what appears to be unoptimised asset streaming. Glitch or not, this basically amounts to concrete and grass textures appearing fuzzier beneath the feet of Trevor, Michael or Franklin, while the PS3 version's remain crystal clear. The 360 does command a minor advantage in frame-rate during synchronised play, but for shoot-outs and high-speed hurtles down the city streets, the PS3 can sometimes pull ahead in these metrics - though the difference is rarely perceptible either way. Since all else is identical across the board, the PS3 version is recommended on the grounds of image quality if you have the option.Comment

Re: Grand Theft Auto V
this game's "little things" really do make "sights and sounds" a thing of beauty, and I want to capture them all now before they lose their luster later.
I'd love to write down everything that I have seen and heard, from the beautiful landmarks to the hilariousness randomness on the streets, but I want to save it for others when they play it for the first time. I recommend after you play the first mission or two, turn off all visual displays and just walk or bike (BMX) around Los Santos, and get lost in it. Amazing. I'm easily laughing twice a minute too, and I'm just walking.
This will especially be the case in vast sandbox type games where the player can ignore the narrative of the characters and the story of the game and just go off and have their own experiences.Last edited by 18 eighty 5; 09-17-2013, 05:31 AM.We are the music makers...Comment

Re: Grand Theft Auto V
Best new features?
Spoiler
1. Vehicle camera height! I always thought the camera was too low starting with San Andreas, so I'm liking the ability to raise it up permanently and not having to manually raise it.
2. The ability to set points of interest on the map! Actually not even sure if this is a new feature, but I don't remember it if it's old, so it's new to me!
Are these the best? Probably not, but I only just starting digging through the game. Did they require a spoiler? Better safe than sorry.
Rockstar appears to have hit a HR with this one. How do they, or anyone, top it?Comment

Re: Grand Theft Auto V
Decided against grabbing it last night, but just got back from getting it at Walmart. I'm glad these pre-order bonuses don't really mean anything because the blimp code was in the box. These impressions sound great, hopefully I get a lot of time to play it today.Comment

Well at Noon i'll be heading out in my trek for GTAV I just hope I don't get some A-hole who messed around with me the last time I bought a Rockstar game (LA Noire) who demanded to see ID.
Anywho, I hope to be successful.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Grand Theft Auto V
Already like this more than GTA IV and I've only played a couple of hours.
I think it can look pretty fantastic at times and the sheer amount of detail the game is trying to stream is immense, but the frame rate can be pretty unstable (sub-30fps) especially when flying down the road at high speeds. It's by no means unplayable and a lot people probably won't even notice (or care), but it's an example, that yes, we do need new hardware and open world games will probably benefit more than any other.Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.Comment

Re: Grand Theft Auto V
Quick question in regards to the 360 "play disc" install issue.
For those of you that bought it on 360, is the "play disc" spinning loudly after not installing it, or does it occasionally spin. Basically, is the disc whirring away constantly making a lot of noise?Comment
