My initial impressions are along the lines of what ubernoob was saying yesterday. It's nothing earth shattering or ground breaking, but so far the story is working it's way together nicely and the mechanics are fresh. Can't wait to dig into the story and get to some cooler missions. fu

Looks like it's going to be very rewarding and a great representation of what Grand Theft Auto should be.

I wanted to spend some time exploring, but I got caught up in the storyline. It's 3:30am and I've got to get at least some sleep before work tomorrow.

Just did a side mission with Michael. Totally trolling Saints Row 4.

That's the first thing I thought about as the mission was taking place.

Damn it.

I've been playing for the past hour, and only now realized that I was on the family account and not on my own account. Now I'm going to have to restart this damn game if I want all of the trophies I just had. ****.

This game rocks though. I'm laughing left and right at the dialogue!

Framerate is definitely nowhere near 60 FPS like I had hoped though haha. Graphics have their ups and downs, but mostly ups when just walking on the streets of Los Santos.

Just went and replayed the first mission again. After it told me that I passed, nothing was loading afterward. Now I have to restart and play the first mission again.

Look, I love the game like no other, but now I have to keep doing this and it's really taking away from what's supposed to be the greatest night of my life lol. It would be one thing if I could skip the cutscenes of this first mission, but I cannot.

EDIT: Also just realized I downloaded the blimp from the family account. Does that mean I can't get it anymore?

I'm sad I missed out on the midnight release, but I just woke up and feel a lot better.


I think I might run to Wal-Mart or Target in the morning and grab it. Pick up my preordered Best Buy copy later and take the Best Buy version back to Target or Wal-Mart. They don't have different packages, do they?

Driving was very weird to me initially. Felt very sensitive, but after driving around a while, I like it.

Everything I've read says October 1st. You mentioning the 5th is the first time I've seen the 5th mentioned.

I got it from Best Buy (though it was the Special Edition) so not totally sure if it's the same, but it should be on a little paper inside the game case (or the box if you have Special Edition).

Okay, early frustrations aside on having to replay the first mission twice (that's three times total), this game's "little things" really do make "sights and sounds" a thing of beauty, and I want to capture them all now before they lose their luster later.

I'd love to write down everything that I have seen and heard, from the beautiful landmarks to the hilariousness randomness on the streets, but I want to save it for others when they play it for the first time. I recommend after you play the first mission or two, turn off all visual displays and just walk or bike (BMX) around Los Santos, and get lost in it. Amazing. I'm easily laughing twice a minute too, and I'm just walking.

Already like this more than GTA IV and I've only played a couple of hours.

I think it can look pretty fantastic at times and the sheer amount of detail the game is trying to stream is immense, but the frame rate can be pretty unstable (sub-30fps) especially when flying down the road at high speeds. It's by no means unplayable and a lot people probably won't even notice (or care), but it's an example, that yes, we do need new hardware and open world games will probably benefit more than any other.
