Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One

    IGN

The game focuses on cooperative play this time around. Players can take control of Dr. Nefarious, Ratchet, Clank, and Captain Qwark. It includes drop-in/drop-out, offline/online gameplay. Teammates can work together, even using weapons between players.

The game also includes four player puzzles, with things like a Giant cannon all the players have to work together to operate.

Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One is coming in Fall 2011.

I'd probably be more excited if I had 4 people to play this with.

The next iteration in the popular Ratchet & Clank series, Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One, will once again be exclusive to PlayStation 3 and will be released in North America on October 18, 2011

In addition to news of a release date, Sony has announced a number of pre-order incentives that will unlock a variety of extra characters for those who commit to buying the game early. Sony has teamed up with GameStop, Amazon, Best Buy and Wal-Mart to offer the pre-order incentives, with each retailer having one exclusive character to give away.

            Here’s what’s on offer:

            • Mr. Zurkon (GameStop): Asmall, hovering synthenoid, Mr. Zurkon aids your team in battle by attacking enemies with his mounted laser while insulting and taunting them with his comedy-insult logic processor.
            • T-Rex Morph Mod (Amazon):Turning enemies into farmyard animals not your style? Want a more prehistoric take on the Morph-O-Ray? Use this T-Rex Morph Weapon Mod to transform your enemies from dangerous threats into a baby dinosaur.
            • Pyro Blaster Unlock (Best Buy): Fry your enemies up with this Kerchu-engineered flamethrower that offers your enemies two choices: regular or extra crispy!
            • Sheepinator Mod (Wal-Mart):The classic version of everyone’s favorite Ratchet & Clank weapon is back! Unlock the Sheepinator Morph Weapon Mod to transform even the fiercest aliens in the galaxy into harmless sheep.

It’s a shame you can’t get access to all four characters by pre-ordering, but hopefully they might be made available to download at some point after launch. Which character will you choose? Decisions, decisions.

The more I read on this game, its like LBP in a way where you can play up to 4 players at the same time. If you want, it can also be played as a SP game too. I can't wait for this release, but I think that October is very bad timing for this. They should have gone with a December release, way too much out between September to November.

With the clock ticking down to the release of Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One (October 18th!), I wanted to share some insight into an arcane corner of the video game industry: How the box art is made. But first, I’m happy to confirm that the final version of Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One will mark the continuation of a recent PlayStation tradition started with Insomniac’s Resistance 3 — reversible box art! The piece — illustrated by Insomniac’s Greg Baldwin, with back cover concept art from Dave Guertin, began its life as an April Fool’s Day PlayStation.Blog post from Captain Qwark. Behold the secret inner box art that we’ve been chuckling over for the last few weeks.

Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One (Behind the Box Art)

Finally: Captain Qwark gets his moment of glory! Flip over the cover art of Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One on October 18th and you’ll find this sweet surprise.

Now back to the making of the box art. Believe it or not, there’s a lot that goes into that rectangular piece of art that sits on store shelves (although I’m sure many colorful commentators would beg to differ). Before we kicked off packfront exploration, we collaborated with Insomniac Games to set our goals. The goals? Make something that not only popped on shelves, but spoke to the core principles of the game:

Anyone grab this yesterday? I know it got dwarfed by the Batman release but someone had to have picked it up. Im curious to see what others think as Ive been looking forward to it for quite sometime now.

I'd like to know as well, I'm thinking about picking up since I've enjoyed all the other Ratchet & Clank games.

I will most likely check this out in December or late November once things die down a bit. I am very interested, but reviews have been around 7.5-8's range. They do say its more of the same which is good, but the graphics this time take a bit of a hit compared to the last 3 releases on PS3.

I will probably rent it. I was hoping despite the focus of cooperative play that it would still be a great single player game, but that doesn't sound like it's the case. I want more of Crack in Time R&C. That's one of my favorite game's this generation.

Played through the last 2 iterations of this game. I was really looking forward to this game because it was multiplayer. I played through the past two games with my girlfriend, switching off every now and then. It is one of the few games she actually wanted to play.

I'll probably pick this up in a month or two. Money's extra tight right now.

Let me know how it plays!
