Re: Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One

I didn't even realize this was out. I enjoyed the other 2 PS3 games so I'll for sure pick this one up too. I'll probably wait and see if it's cheap on Black Friday before picking up though.

I agree with everything you said here. Crack in Time was great!

I wish my sister would like this game more, because this would be great to play with her. At least she loves LBP.

Im enjoying it so far but the story seems a bit off as Im no really sure whats going on at all in regards to the story but Im a sucker for platform games so I will finish it out regardless. Playing single player isnt bad as Clank will act as the second player for you and hes actually pretty intelligent so you wont run into problems with him acting idiotic or getting in the way.

Re: Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One

I ended up getting this from Gamefly last week. This is very different from the previous Ratchet games in the franchise, between the camera and how you interact with your partners in the environment is something new to the series. When I look at this as a side game it works, but its a little disappointing that we do not get a full fledged story which seems to be lacking a bit here. There are times your doing things that make no sense at all. The graphics seems to take a hit compared to the last 3 games on the PS3, which includes the PSN release. There have been some minor bugs, but nothing that made me want to crack the disc in half.

Besides some of the issues I have with the game, the core is Ratchet and is still fun. I did try some of the co-op with my kids and this is where the game really shines as advertised. Hoping after this release this franchise goes back to what has made it great on the PS2/3. Now it comes down to if Insomniac is the developer moving forward or if Sony finds someone else. Between a few things with this title and R3, I think Insomniac has kind of moved on to focus with multiplat development.

Yep, I think that deal with EA may have signified that. Maybe someone else making the franchise could be a good thing for it, kinda like how I think 343 may be a good thing for Halo.

You seemed to hit the nail on the head.

I got this yesterday, and played a little last night with my girlfriend. Being able to play two players is a blast. It feels like Rachet & Clank... just with two players. Which is good. That said, I did miss some of the dialogue, but there didn't seem to be a point to what we were doing. No matter to me really, this series has always been about fun and blowing things up. It was pretty cool doing so with another person at the same time. I love the Combuster!

Looking forward to tomorrow to play some more! I wanna be Rachet this time.

It's not a bad game and focuses on MP, just a shame though that it wasn't a full fledged Ratchet game.

The other issue that I have is that right now my son and I are stuck in one spot towards the end of the game and no matter what we do can't beat these darn robots that keep coming at us. We've tried several times and I am to a point where this thing is going back to GF. I might pick up ACIT again and finish up my platinum on that one since I'm one trophy away. LOL!

Just wondering (because it might help if you can do it as well), but can any other players join at any time? Or is it like the old Sonic [Genesis] games, where you determine how many players you'll have at the start of the campaign and stick with it?

Maybe you're stuck on a portion that pretty much requires four players to take care of. Is there a way you can get two other people and they can join in?

I've had my son jump in and help out, but were still not having any success. I plan to take Qwark whom he is using through a few of the earlier levels to level him up, hoping it helps take care of the problem. LOL!

I don't think players can drop in and drop out at any point, but you can play with 2, then go with 3 next time, 4 next time, and then just play single player another time.

In order to change who's playing and who's not, you have to start back at the beginning of the level/world, I believe. It's kinda confusing, there's no game saves to load up. It just gives you the world to choose, and then the subworld or whatever to choose after you choose the world. Kinda a checkpoint type of thing I guess.

That's kind of what I meant. At least it allows you to do that much, though.

It sucks that this is missing a drop in/drop out feature, really would of been an excellent idea. I did notice that when I played the last boss and the one spot I was stuck on with my son by myself, it was much easier. It's like the difficulty gets ramped up considerably in the later levels when playing co-op. I was glad to finish this darn thing last night and was getting quite aggravated which a game hasn't done it to me in a long time. Back to GF this goes. I personally feel like Insomniac really phoned this one in and even R3 to a degree. I guess when you go multi-plat, you know where their minds are at the moment and its not releasing quality. Especially some of the bugs that made it into the final build which could of been found with some extra testing.

Hoping that if this franchise goes to another developer that they really do a great job as the ending leaves things open for a sequel, but hopefully its like the other Ratchets this gen and not another co-op Ratchet.

Even the graphics were off when compared to the first three games on the PS3. Colors looked soft and were missing that vibrant punch, except for a world or two where things looked nice.

My PSN has been wonky as of late, but I've got a gaming date with the girl when she gets off work later, so I'll have to give it a try. I'll report back.

Definitely seem a bit dull compared to the last two releases I played (Tools of Destruction & a Crack in Time). If this was the first game of this series I played, it'd be okay. But it does seem a bit distant and barebones after being treated by the previous two releases.
