Re: Kinect Your Shape Evolved
The catch here is that only cardio sub session 1 is the only one unlocked and you have to finish 1 to unlock 2 and so forth. Unlocking seems to mean only going through the routine and doesn't require a certain level of accuracy; at least so far.
Fitness classes are the same. For example the Zen class has six or so sessions but only the first sub session of the River session is unlocked. You have to work through all six sessions of River to unlock The Ocean session.Comment

They need to patch in some free DLC for warmups and cooldowns. A person can do some harm without them.DON'T PANICComment

Re: Kinect Your Shape Evolved
This thing gave me a ridiculous workout last night. I canceled my EA Active reserve as there's really no sense in 2 workout games, this one seems to fit the bill nicely. Very impressed.
Even though it's very restrictive on baggy clothes, using workout clothes worked fine, and even the workouts I did poorly at, it still gave me calorie scores and I still got the workout. It's sad, but the fact it has goals and achievements (especially linking it online), will keep me motivated to workout where EA Active and Wii Fit on the Wii both failed.
Here's to hoping they keep DLC coming as well to keep spicing up workouts.Comment

Re: Kinect Your Shape Evolved
when I got up today I fired it up and did a zen workout which was nice and quick but also got the blood flowing an a couple of gym games. I thought that was a pretty decent way to start the day.
The one big thing this game is missing to me is deep stat tracking. It has scores or percents for some activities, but it would be cool if it had others like mph/kph punches, or torque or acceleration that could be compaired over time.
This game shows off the kinect more than others because of it's 1-1 animation/simulation and strict feedback about your body position.
It does have a pretty big amount of programs/execizes as well.
All that said, for me unlike the above poster, I'll look at all excersize games and will buy if they offer something different or if this one becomes stale after enough time passes.
When I was playing motion sports, I actually started designing a game in my head thinking about all the different games they could make.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

Re: Kinect Your Shape Evolved
I was wondering with the advancement of the game, do things get faster? For instance, the workout where you are busting blocks, does the speed of their appearance increase or is it adjustable?
I'm interested in this for my wife and me. She mentioned to me about a month ago that she'd like to work out with me, so maybe this would work as we do it together and keep up with stats etc.Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.Comment

If you were to do a full sculpting excersize as I've done, you will probably wake up sore (if you get sore like i do) because of the strict posturing etc.
There's also cardio and toning as well, and zen classes and kickboxing classes.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

Re: Kinect Your Shape Evolved
they do get faster and add wrinkles like ducking a pendulum and adding knee's. That is only one tiny game within the game although it is very fun.

Re: Kinect Your Shape Evolved
it is,...the game builds a 'program' for you based on your stress test type activity. But you can also do whatever you want - the 'game' mechanic involved is the calorie counter and achievements you get, you have to unlock higher difficulties and programs, so it kind of stats you off with quick excersizes and easy techniques for just a few minutes at a time, and graduates to classes that can either be exhausting or burn out your legs.
I'm not sure if this game will make people want to work out. I already do when I can and like it, so I'm already motivated. I think a lot of people who never excersize would try it and tell themselves they will do it everyday and won't. On the other hand others will enjoy the convenience of it and use it to supplement their other excersize and/or use it as a stand-in on days they can't make it to the gym or whatever. So in some respects, I believe this game thinks it's targeted to people who don't work out, when in actuality people who already do are more likely to buy it and use it.Last edited by allBthere; 11-13-2010, 06:48 PM.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

Thanks to everyone for the reviews. I decided to purchase EA Active 2 to see how that works. I will let you guys know once I pick up a Kinect. Went with the free shipping on Active 2 so I probably will not see it for another week.Comment

Is anyone still following their workout routines with this game? I returned EA Active and am considering picking this game up. Does this game have push-up exercises?PSN: sportdan30

Re: Kinect Your Shape Evolved
I got this yesterday and love it.
I've been using EA Sports Active 2.0 and I really liked that program...however we made the decision to get a 360 slim + kinect, so i needed a fitness program to go with the new set up (My PS3 is going to a friend).
I am really impressed by this and the Kinect had no problems tracking me at all (I wore football shorts + t-shirt). I really like the range of programs depending on your level + I love the Yen stuff for warming down. (My wife is a Buddhist so I've always wanted to do the relaxation stuff).
The main reason I really like the program is the fact you are in there...i can't empahise enough what a difference that makes. I have a bad back (scoliosis..same as Tracy McGrady etc) and the fact the program is actually telling me what I am doing wrong + I can see where I haven't bent properly is incredibly good. I worked out for 45 mins + a Yen class...great stuff.
As I said, EA Active 2.0 was really good also...but I found with that I'd often completely do an exercise wrong and the 'trainer' has no idea and would say "great job" etc. It's not really 'interactive' or based on your body. I'm sure both programs will get you fit though.
I also like that the Fitness Evolved trainers and gyms etc look like "virtual people/ virtual gyms"...not cartoons like EA Active.
Note: I also noticed Fitness Evolved has a program specifically for women after birth...and my wife had our first child six months ago. She was really happy when I showed her the program. Definitely something in there for you and your partners.Last edited by Court_vision; 11-28-2010, 05:55 AM.Comment

Your post has me wondering if we are twins. Purchased a kinect system for another room. Picked up EA Active 2 and just recently scored Fitness Evolved for $25 during Black Friday. Messed up my back earlier this week from moving a 400 lb pellet stove by myself (dumb) so I have done zero workouts since. Always had a bad back which is probably from having a weak core and some extra fat around the midsection. My goal is to get lean while building some muscle these winter months. Wife is also excited over the Fitness Evolved for kinect though she is already in great shape.Comment
