Well I guess the more I thought about it the more I leaned to preordering this from Amazon just now. $20 credit towards a future game and free shipping seemed to be the best deal I could find.

Passed on purchasing a Kinect at Walmart tonight thinking I might be able to find a better deal. Just read a few analyst reports saying don't bank on it since it is actually selling extremely well for retailers. That is interesting since I noticed that they had probably 3-4 in the display case. I guess I will pick one up tomorrow after work.

I thought about this because I liked the last couple of EA Active games... Maybe it depends on how well it works..

          EA Sports Active 2.0 (360/PS3/Wii)

Can a mod please fix the thread title since this thing is going to be available for all 3 platforms? Too bad the NFL Training Camp didn't make it into the PS3 and 360 versions.

This game was really impressive when tied with Kinect -- at least at the preview event a bit ago. I would be totally on board if I had the space for it in my living area. The technology worked almost flawlessly and the online integration is top notch. The heart monitor also seemed actually useful and impressive from a technological perspective.

Sweet now you have me really jazzed that I preordered this. I picked up a Kinect last night and you are not kidding as space is definitely an issue. I have room in my main living room however I really want to make it work in my gaming room. The only issue is that I have exactly 7 feet of space and at times I am noticing that I am up against the edge of the couch. It seems that Kinect really wants 8 feet to play around in which is going to force me to do one of two things:

              1) Take this Kinect back and purchase a Xbox 360 bundle with Kinect for the other living room as I do not want to keep moving my system around.

              or

              2) Figure out a way to get it to work by mounting it to my wall behind and above the TV but that is going to be a challenge. I have steps that come down into this room so it is not a flat wall dead center behind the TV like the instructions are asking. I tried it on a position off to the left side of the TV and though it did work, it left me wondering if it was going to be accurate especially when I am down on the floor working out (push ups, ect).

Yeah you seem to be in the same position as me. I decided to just wait and get the bundle in a bit so I can put the 360 in another room -- I refuse to move stuff back and forth. Clearly that was Bill Gates' plan all along, the bastard.

I have the Kinect and am thinking of picking this up as well. Can't wait to hear initial impressions. A media review would be nice as well!

I'm sure we will eventually get ours up (need to procure a copy first). The thing with this title is that there are workout programs in it -- I think they push a 9 week program with this series. So we would need at least a week or two with it before reviewing most likely.

That I completely understand and don't fully expect a complete review. However, I was hoping some media company might have an advanced copy they were playing over the last week or two that might be able to provide some impressions. However, I'd rather it be an accurate assessment than someone who has only used it for a day or less. Although early impressions would be great to hear as well.

Does anyone know the requirements for the PS3 version? I've read conflicting things. One says you don't use the Move and the other said it's a requirement. I'm assuming you just need the "eye" for the game?

From what I remember, the PS3 version is completely hands-free like the others. The game comes with monitors you strap on to each arm and one on the leg...I think Kinect people just need to strap on one monitor (the heart-rate monitor) and the Kinect does the rest. I'm not sure if it works with the PS3 Eye or not, but it's not a requirement.

Just thinking without having to have a controller strapped to me somewhere might be kinda nice. Im just not pro kinect right now lol

I should be able to give a few impressions this Friday evening when my copy arrives by mail. Please keep in mind that it will only be an initial impression as I will not have much time to clock in as I have a soccer tourney that I need to coach this weekend. The real workouts will not begin until Monday 22nd.

This evening I will be exchanging my Kinect for an Xbox 360 Kinect bundle as I will need the space in another room to make it work. Plus from everything that I have read, I should use as much room as possible if I really want a real workout.

I've played both for Kinect now, EA Active 2.0 and Your Shape: Fitness Evolved.

There's just something off with EA Active, it's not nearly as concise a workout as Your Shape IMO. The controls are also sketchy. Several times they'd tell me to squat, but I already was.

Mountain Biking and Dodgeball were easily the most annoying two with this. Moutain Biking was one I just gave up on, it was frustrating and annoying. You have to run to pedal the bike up hills. I would run and run and the bike just sat there. Dodgeball, it never registered a single jump I made. Very disappointing.

Also, it lost me 4 times in one workout, meaning I had to re-calibrate. That was annoying. Also the "iPod" would come up interrupting my workout, where I had to grab a controller and press X to remove it, that happened 5 times. Couldn't find any option to turn the ipod off except turning music completely off. Very annoying.

The web intergration is outstanding and better than Your Shape, but that's not what draws me to a fitness "game".

If I had to score both, I'd give Your Shape an 8, and EA Active a 6.5. The Wii version was better IMO.
