Biggest disappointment was Red Dead Redemption.

After the initial nostalgia wore off it just got very uninteresting for me. Horses just don't have the same feeling changing from one to another the way a car does. the land felt VERY barren after awhile though beautiful almost all the time. Technically they nailed the setting it just felt TOO open for it's own good and going places was a chore though realistic in some senses. Honestly wanted to play it through couldn't...

That's what I call a disappointment. something you wanted craved and then poof a week later you're just not satisfied with it.

Yeah definitely give Darksiders another shot when you get a chance. After Tiamat, there are plenty of awesome moments to experience in the game.

I counted no less than 50 posters on OS who had "high expectations" and/or had this game at or near the top of their "most anticipated" games list:

Seems like you had a little bit more than just a little bit of interest:

          A) They're horses. How much different can they be? And besides that, ride a Standardbred and ride a ****ty horse, there's a stark contrast.

          B) It's the old west, of course it's barren. That's how it was back then.

          C) If you didn't want to ride around there was always a fast travel option.

            Final Fantasy XIII

I've completed every Final Fantasy game out there, save II, and I couldn't finish this one. I look at it on the shelf, think, "damn, I put in 30+ hours and can't have that much more to go", but can't put it in the PS3. I just don't want to play it any more. I never even got to Pulse. The title just dragged and dragged, so I spoiled the story, and I think I'll be trading it in this week.

It's a shame, as I own every FF game as well, and will now have gaping hole in my collection. I guess I should go play FFVI or FFX and wash that horrible taste out of my mouth.

I don't normally have a major disappointment, as even in overhyped garbage I can find some redeeming joy. Not this year. I suppose I could put COD:BO on the list as a 1a, but I've grown out of shooters for the most part, and had no real illusion that it would pull me back in the genre. It went back after 72 hours.

EDIT: And for all the talk criticism of those who dislike Red Dead, count me in the group that didn't think it was all that and a bag of potato chips. It was an extremely well made game, good voice acting, visuals, but it was missing something. Rockstar makes some great open world games, but they need to change things up a bit. The go to this marker, get a mission, go there, kill the baddies, fetch that, bring it back mission structure is tiresome.

Too much comparison to GTA series, and if some who are fans of that have a problem with RDR, then they are going to be even MORE disappointed with L.A. Noire!

I personally thought RDR was one of the best games I have ever played, in the 25+ years of gaming.
