Re: Mass Effect 3
Just finished it.
SpoilerHonestly, not even mad about it. I feel like it will all be explained at some point. Though I do wonder how they pick who comes out of the ship with Joker on that planet. I got Javik and Liara. Javik was with me on the final mission, but Liara was not. Looking forward to the next DLC.
Overall though, the ending definitely doesn't ruin the whole series for me like some of you said it did for you. I always prefer the ride more so than the ending so perhaps that's why. Anytime a game has ended I will find it bittersweet whether or not the ending is awesome. It doesn't take away from how much emotion the rest of the games filled me with. Seeing Mordin, Thane, and Legion give their lives were some of the most emotion inducing moments for me (particularly Mordin's sacrifice).
Unrelated, I really wish that I could have had some way where both Ashley and Kaiden died. She's so damn lame in this game and I like her about 20x less than I did before.
I had Liara as my love interest in this one and ME1 (Tali in ME2) which led to a scene at the end that had me laughing way too hard. (obviously don't click unless you've beat the game)
SpoilerIn a game filled with funny moments, going in to talk to Garrus on the before the final mission and finding him hooking up with Tali was possibly the most hilarious dialogue besides the Blasto 6 movie to me. Loved the comedy throughout.
Regarding the crew you actually fight alongside in all 3 games, I'd rank them like this (Not by combat skill, mostly how much I appreciated them):
Spoiler
1. Garrus
2. Mordin
3. Grunt
4. Wrex
5. Liara
6. Legion
7. Javik
8. Tali
9. EDI
10. Thane
11. Jack
12. Samara
13. Miranda
14. Kasumi
15. James
16. Jacob
17. Zaeed
18. Ashley
19. Kaidan

About Ashley and TaliSpoilerI lol'ed so hard when they were both drunk. The part of threatening that joker should sing to ashley and making her say sir and commander was really funny.
With Tali she was like I got a boyfriend and hes human! My dad would of hated you. Then the emergency opening and Shepard is like, that's a straw. Lmao.

SpoilerI thought it was funny when they were talking about their kills, she was like what about on the reaper ship and he was like do you see what weapon I have, you have a shotgun. Then when they were saying about what enemy they both hate the most garrus was like husks and tali said about how, they are easy to kill and he said about yeah for her.
Just so much interaction between the crew, makes them feel so more alive. Especially how they move around the ship.

Agree Normandy crew was much more organic felt more immersive than ever. Tali and Garrus are my two favorites and loved my Shepard's interaction with them. Was taxing going up and down the ship between every mission but well worth it, lol.

Re: Mass Effect 3
lol...I dunno.
SpoilerI mean, the save I'm playing had my Shepard faithful to her, even though she ignored him almost completely in ME2. Didn't matter. She accuses Shepard early on in ME3...He talks to her calmly. She accuses him again...He further reassures her.
She gets hurt...he rushes to the hospital as priority #1. He offers words of encouragement. He remembers her poetry leanings and gets her that as a gift. He visits her repeatedly. She gets offered Spectre status (from riding Shepard's coattails, I might add)...Shepard supports it without hesitation.
Then, **** goes down on the Citadel and what's the first thought when she sees you? "Cerberus scum, I'll put a gun in his face!" Okay, fine. Saint Shepard calmly reassures her once more and gets her to see he's still the same lovable schmuck she virtually ignored in ME2. Oh, and for good measure, Shepard AGAIN saves the day with unbelievable humility.
Then, you finally get some form of apology (again, Shepard reacts to this like a freakin' saint) and it's right back to the formal "can't wait to work for you again" stuff, a handshake, and then no conversation once she's aboard. That's a lot to take from your so-called "love interest" to start the game off
She's got my Shep acting like a bitch...lol. If I wasn't interested in keeping continuity for this particular Shepard, I'd spitefully bang every chick I could lure into my cabin and rush to tell her about it (and wish I could make her watch).
I know of lot of that is the secondary nature of the romance angles (and, yes...I know it gets better), but damn, some basic appreciation would be nice from the broad. Hell, the ships engineering crew shows Shepard more respect.Last edited by SoxFan01605; 03-14-2012, 06:47 AM.Comment

Re: Mass Effect 3
What was everyone's favorite interrupt in the game? Mine was...
SpoilerThe Kai Leng one when he tries to sneak behind you and stab you. It's a renegade one and I'm paragon, but I just had to do it! Shep sense it, turns around and punches Leng's sword. Sword shatters, and then Shepard stabs him with his omni blade and says, "That was for Thane, you son of a bitch."

Lol, man this seriously has me laughing for real, because it's so true.
SpoilerShe did have Shepard/me going out like a bitch. The whole time, I'm just sitting up there making excuses in my head for her actions.
I'm telling you, I feel like I got really invested with making it work Ashley lol. When she asked me to come down with her and her sister at the memorial, I'm like "Yes! This will be a good time to gain some ground with her." When I got the email to meet her at the citadel for some downtime, I was analyzing it like "Yeah, so this is like a date right? This definitely means she wants to hook up again yeah?"
Another thing I was over analyzing was when she got drunk. I go in there, she tells me Vega got her drunk. Vega? That musclebound, Jersey Shore rip off looking meat head down in the shuttle bay Vega? What the **** were y'all doing together? With alcohol?! I go to the little cafeteria area and Vega is over there cooking, talking about how he's gonna give Ashley something to eat because he "knows she could use the nourishment after last night." Is this dude trying to tell me he wore her out last night?
Yeah, Ashley had my Shepard tripping man. All that stuff he took as her playing hard to get, it made him want her more. But yeah, straight simp mode for Shepard when dealing with her. I was a straight Paragon too, she never saw the renegade side. So Shepard was just this nice dude that she toyed around with.
What's really crazy is that Liara was giving Shepard CONSTANT attention and affection, even at the very end after I had already chosen Ash. She was practically throwing it on the commander. And I would just shrug her off like, okay, go back to your little room now Shadow Broker (Ashley was a xenophobe too, another con). I was really feeling like I should have chosen Liara at the end though. She just seems to appreciate Shepard more.
So yeah, I see you guys' point.

Re: Mass Effect 3
Okay, I've beaten the game:
SpoilerIt is worthy of the implied controversy I'd been noting throughout this thread. Personally, I think it was bad. I think it ruined an amazing series, for me. I didn't like the idea of being introduced to this new character in the final several minutes of the series. I didn't like the choices laid out before me. I didn't like that the choices that I have made when playing this game the past 5 or so years do not matter in the slightest. Even the choices that I made only in this game, are meaningless.
Everything up until the end was almost perfect. I was sitting here thinking about going through the trilogy again on different characters, to see all the different endings. I was thinking about all the different choices I could make that would affect said endings.
So when I actually got to the ending, after doing every single thing to be done in this game outside of multi-player (that's another thing I feel completely cheated by, terrible ending notwithstanding), I was pretty underwhelmed. I started reading the spoilers that I had been avoiding like the plague in this thread and saw that I wasn't the only one. So this morning, I said screw it, and looked for alternate endings on YouTube, just to see what might have been if I didn't play the game the way I chose to play it. I was really shocked to see that no matter what I do, the ending is pretty much the same. Really? Not only that, but it makes absolutely no sense! It raises more questions than it answers.
I'm not going to keep ranting, but I don't see how any fan of the series could be satisfied with that ending. Like I said, while playing, I kept thinking about how I'd go back and play through the series again to make different choices and see how they affected the ending. There's no hurry or even a need to do that now that I see that none of it matters.
That said, it was a helluva ride up to that point. It's an amazing game play experience throughout the whole series. The end of it though...man.Last edited by trobinson97; 03-14-2012, 09:40 AM.PS: You guys are great.
