Re: Mass Effect 3
Yet you would think that Bioware, one of the most consistent and critically acclaimed studios, could avoid some of that. It's not even like they have the usual problems of people being overly childish, it's just that people have ridiculous expectations and overreact at the first thing that's released.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

I feel like Lewis Black and the candy corn with the Bioware forums. I hate the people but I keep thinking "maybe this time they'll stop whining abuot the most asinine things" but it's the same everytime. The amount of complaints that have come about after the trailer is insane.Comment

Re: Mass Effect 3
I may be the only nerd-like gamer that hates this series.
Well, to be fair, I never played Mass Effect 2, but that's because I disliked the first one so much I never finished it, so therefore never had any interest in the second one.
Maybe if I can find the first two for cheap some time next year when I'm real bored I'll try again.

Re: Mass Effect 3
This one isn't as bad but it gives you a nice introduction to the whining. There's a much longer thread about the trailer on there if you want to see it.
Also, this:
I think it's bad, personally. The trailer left me with a deeply disappointed reaction, I have to be honest. It just feels like any old Shooter-game plot, like Half-Life and Halo. 'Ooh, save the earth!' Big whoop. At least in the previous two games it was 'Save the galaxy!', so how come we take a step down from that? True, stopping the Reapers IS a 'save the galaxy' plot, but who gives a toss about the Earth? The only Earthling worth their salt is Shepard, while the rest are a bunch of buggering nitwits. Not to mention there's a viably substantial amount of humans in space already compared to Earth's population. So let's say they blow up Earth. 'Oh no, whatever shall we do.' The human race is more than capable of resettling on any number of planets even then.
Sorry, but for me, the 'Earth is burning' plot is a boring and contrived one, overdone and just gives me miserable flashbacks to every single other FPS game that utilized some kind of plot in that direction. The Mass Effect series was bigger than that. 'Was' bigger.Last edited by jmood88; 12-12-2010, 04:23 PM.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

Re: Mass Effect 3
Film Composer Clint Mansell to Score Mass Effect 3
Clint Mansell, composer of such classic motion picture scores as 'The Fountain' and 'Requiem For a Dream' dropped the news that he is writing the musical score for the last chapter in BioWare's Mass Effect trilogy in an interview with The Quietus about his latest film, 'Black Swan'.
The website Badass Digest picked up on the news of Mansell's involvement in Mass Effect 3, which saw the composer asked about whether he does much work for other outlets like computer games. Mansell responded by saying: "I'm doing a video game this year actually. Mass Effect 3".
When describing what it's like to score a video game, Mansell said: "As I was saying about Public Enemy and re-working old hip-hop tunes for Requiem, and kind of re-working old ballet tunes for Black Swan, with something like Mass Effect you're more like a DJ, with all these elements. You've got the holding pattern, then the big explosion where you need the score to kick in. Then you need to take it off on a tangent. You've got all these different elements that change depending on what the player does. You have to figure out an overall symphony, but be able to break it down into component parts. You can bring the pain when required".
This is incredible news as Mansell is regarded by many as one of the most gifted composers working in the film industry today. His music is famous for being as **** as it is haunting. His involvement in Mass Effect 3 gives us good reason to believe we might be in for the most emotionally devastating game in BioWare's space opera franchise yet.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment
