Was the ending that bad? I've heard that the company might redo it.

Re: Mass Effect 3
they said they wont changed the ending, just add more scenes at the end to help clarify the ending.
basically, the last 5 minutes creates more questions than answers and creates a ton of plot holes that are unexplained. can't really go into it more than that without spoilers.Comment

Re: Mass Effect 3
Not taking into account literal game breaking bugs, this is about as big of a "mea culpa" as you're going to get from a big time publisher and developer.
Now we'll see if the actual content can get people to put away the pitchforks.
It was also a smart play to make the announcement before the PAX panel tomorrow.
I'm hoping for something along the lines ofSpoilershowing what happens with LI, the fleets still in the Sol system, and Shepard gasping for airComment

Re: Mass Effect 3
I finally finished.
I'm almost at a loss for words. I'll def. remember it for a long time to come. There are a few loop holes and questions that I would like answered. I think my biggest thing is, I don't want the story to be over with the characters..... it was a very fun ride.
I don't have much of a reason to replay it anytime soon, but I may keep it in the collection permanently, since I've held onto ME2 + I'll have to re purchase it just to download the extended cut scenes.
I'm more confused about some things, than anything else. Of course I'm a bit disappointed, but the game is just a victim of it's own success/awesomeness. These guys created a universe and a story that's unrivaled by anything I have ever scene. Every big accomplishment actually felt like a real accomplishment and rewarding, unlike a lot of the games that I have played. Usually my response to overcoming an obstacle is just "Wow, I'm glad that was over", but with this game, I was actually emotionally invested a little....
I'll quit rambling on about it, but in conclusion, the ending isn't anywhere near as bad as a lot of people make it out to be, I would just like a little clarification about some things..
I'll miss "dat ***"...Comment

Re: Mass Effect 3
Imagine all the work a team puts into winning a Super Bowl, the hard hours of prep, the time away from the physical parts of the game thinking about how to go about it, the anxious moments when each game is in the balance and the final joy you experience when the clocks tick 0:00 and you've won...
Except there is no rain of confetti. No trophy presentation from the so-called commisioner. The game ends and someone throws a paper airplane at the coach with thick black letters saying "Congratulatons!" written inside.
The other losing team would also get a paper airplane "Congratulaton!" but in red ink.
So essentially not only was the ending unsatisfying, only aesthetically different from any other outcome, but they misspelled the only thing they put into it.
This won't change the sting out of a shoddy ending, but at least we'll get something more like we thought we'd get. An idea that our choices actually mattered up to that point.Comment

Re: Mass Effect 3
I believe quite a bit of the "From Ashes" DLC was in the original game and just locked out(I think mostly character art and audio type stuff). most of the pre-order DLC stuff are on the disc as well, just locked until you input the code.
I think most of the issues people had with it was that he is such an important character to the lore of Mass Effect, and yet most people have to pay an extra $10 just to get the full Mass Effect lore experience. He is much more involved than any of the ME2 DLC characters were(Zaeed and Kasumi). He has interactions with most of the Normandy crew throughout the game, people on the citadel, and people you meet on missions. from the looks of it, he was meant to be in the game, but was kept out on purpose. whether it was because of greed, or because the content wasn't quite done, I don't know.
the DLC squad member is actually playable without the DLC(but locked), just the mission to recruit him is missing. you can edit the save files, you can actually get him to appear after a few missions without ever buying the DLC. but the weapons, the squad member himself, and several non recruiting mission conversations are all on the disc.Comment

Re: Mass Effect 3
You know, the Reapers themselves were nowhere near as freaky as the actual Collectors. Something about the collectors just freaked me the **** out, especially when they say "assuming control".
By the time I got to the end, my Shepard and crew were so bad ***, we walked through most of it with no problem.Comment

Re: Mass Effect 3
SpoilerCollectors were, to be simplistic, tools for the Reapers... that was pretty well explained within ME2...Comment

Free DLC to clarify the ending.
"The battle between angry fans and BioWare has been raging since the game's release over several issues, with the biggest being the disappointing ending. BioWare have stuck to their guns and stated that they won't make a new ending, but will release free DLC to add clarity to the existing ones."When will the Extended Cut DLC be available?
Currently the Extended Cut DLC is planned for this summer, no specific date has been announced at this point.
Why are you releasing the Extended Cut DLC?
Though we remain committed and are proud of the artistic choices we made in the main game, we are aware that there are some fans who would like more closure to Mass Effect 3. The goal of the DLC is not to provide a new ending to the game, rather to offer fans additional context and answers to the end of Commander Shepard's story.
So there you have it. Are we proud of the game we made and the team that made it? Hell yes. Are we going to change the ending of the game? No. Do we appreciate the passion and listen to the feedback delivered to us by our fans? Very much so and we are responding.

I'm excited to see it. The concept itself was meh but passable, the execution was poor. Curious to see what it will be. Shocked its free fifty free.

Re: Mass Effect 3
SpoilerThe Collectors are probably no different from cannibals or any other husk-type enemy without the Collector General to coordinate them or to act as a Reaper proxy to make drones stronger in the field. Harbinger very clearly said he had no further use for them.Comment
