Final Fantasy XIII-2

Square Enix has just announced Final Fantasy XIII-2.

It is a direct sequel to monster JRPG FFXIII, and will release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2011.

The team responsible for Final Fantasy XIII is at the helm, including director Motomu Toriyama. According to RPGSite, it has a new character with FFXIII protagonist Lightning.

Toriyama took to the stage at a Square Enix press conference to debut a short trailer, according to Andriasang. Development is said to be progressing well. The team is "working so that the game serves as the answer to the opinions they received about FFXIII".

Dammit, I still haven't started the first one. Still, I think I'm looking forward to this.

Don't know how I feel about this one. I thought the first one was ok. It just didn't feel like one of those classic Final Fantasy games. I am a RPG nut so I will check it out.

Dammit, I still haven't started the first one. Still, I think I'm looking forward to this.

I was tempted to buy it during all the Black Friday and Christmas sales, but I ended up with Resonance of Fate and Valkyria Chronicles to get my JRPG fix.

Agreed. First one was ok. Didn't feel like a big accomplishment when I finished this one but I will still get it cause i'm a sucker for FF series games. Its like Pokemon, I have to collect (play) them all...

I probably won't approach this with the same type of pre-release enthusiasm as I do other FF games, but I'll still probably get it on release day. I'll definitely be reading the preview info first though.

Most people I spoke to were not happy with the direction they took the latest game, so I haven't even bothered buying it. I just feel like I'll be disappointed.

I used to love Final Fantasy on the PS1 and early on.. with the PS2, but I don't have any enthusiasm for it now.

Let's hope.. Lightning and Fang were 2 of the hottest video game chicks ever.. Lightning was a big part in why I wanted to like FF13 but I just couldn't stomach the paradigm shift battle system..

Yeah if it weren't for Lightning I would have given up on the game long before I initially did. I ended up coming back to it a few months later and actually enjoyed the battle system and all the other things about the game.

I'd prefer something else though. Either way I'm picking this up, and the fact that it has Lightning in it again is just a bonus.

I'm going to tell myself that I'll be waiting on reviews, but I know once release date approaches I'll be amped like always, and probably end up getting it day one... I enjoyed XIII, just not really itching to play more of it right now.

A revamped battle system would help. I didn't think the one in XIII really reached its full potential until the postgame when the different paradigms became a big deal, and strategies very enemy-specific.

Amen to that. Vanille never did much for me... but I think her voice just ruined whatever else she had going for her.

Well I actually liked 13, but never finished it just lost interest after awhile I think. However it sucks compared to all the other FF I loved such a 7,8,10,etc.
