Re: Halo Combat Evolved Remake 11/15
If that's how you feel, you can thank Microsoft. Bungie has been wanting to work on a new IP since Halo 1 shipped. Now after splitting from Microsoft back in 2007 and regaining their independence, they are able to finally work on something other than Halo and are currently working on a new multiplatform IP for Activision. In order for this to transpire, Bungie had to be willing to part ways with their baby, and be contractually obligated to deliver two more Halo titles (ODST and Reach) as apart of the deal.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

343 Industries’ Frank O’Connor Talks Passing the Halo Baton
More from our nattering with 343 Industries' Frank O'Connor now, as we talked to the Franchise Director about the handover of the Halo series from original creators, Bungie. We discussed the process of passing the baton between the two studios, and what exactly happened during that interval.
"There was a baton passing, and obviously there were loads of technical and logistical challenges, but it was pretty smooth. I think there was only error on the day that we did it... There was transition period and a contractual transitional period, which has been a couple of years. But the final handover of data, and replication data more to the point, was roughly August 15th... A date in August, I think it was the 15th where literally all the old servers stopped and ours started. It was seamless. I think there was one mistake and a couple of little glitches since, but overall it was pretty seamless," O'Connor stated.
No great shakes then, but who owns the Halo engine now we asked? "It's Microsoft's engine and Bungie still has a version of it, absolutely. Bungie was once part of Microsoft, and like Bungie were, we're a studio within Microsoft," O'Connor told us, before explaining how the game engines work in Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary to replicate the original Halo in classic mode, warts and all.
"Anniversary actually uses the original Halo engine with a separate graphics layer running on top, so when you switch to classic mode, it is literally identical. If there was a bug in the first game, it still works here," said O'Connor. "We actually had to put bugs back in based on test data, because there were certain things like bugs in the Hunter AI people used to lure them into a trap. If that didn't work in Anniversary we'd be in trouble, so we had to do some weird counter-intuitive things to make sure it felt exactly like Halo."
And what of Anniversary's multiplayer engine. "But the multiplayer engine is all Reach, and that's something we're continuing to evolve as we move forward towards Halo 4." Oh, right... Well, we already knew that...
Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary is out worldwide on November 15th, 2011.Comment

First Halo Kinect Details Revealed
We learn first details on how Kinect will power the Halo Universe.
343 Industries detailed how Kinect integration will figure into the Halo Universe, including voice commands to reload weapons and throw grenades, and a gesture-based system to access an item database.
Three specific features were announced: Analyze Mode, The Library and Voice Commands.
Voice Commands - Using voice-commands, you'll be able to reload your weapon, throw grenades, switch between Classic and Remastered graphics and more, all using only your voice.
Analyze Mode - Analyze Mode essentially lets you scan items during singleplayer into what 343i has dubbed the Library (different library, folks). Currently various vehicles, characters, enemies and weapons are confirmed. The feature is engaged by saying the word "scan" while training your reticule on an item. Your Library index will grow in collectible-style fashion as you analyze more content.
The Library - The aforementioned Library is an index where detailed item info can be stored, searched and read. You'll access the content via gesture controls.
Halo Kinect: Needs more cat scanning
Halo, all Daylo
Sounds like you won't be holding your hands up in the air with a make-believe Magnum in your hands just yet, but you're likely to garner a few funny looks from friends and family members when you yell "GRENADE"!!!
This only half-confirms Microsoft's assertion that Kinect integration will "not affect the core gameplay experience" and is merely an additive feature, which IGN reported on during our E3 coverage of Halo: Anniversary. Voice and gestured-based collection and perusal of goodies is one thing. Reloading, and specifically hands-free reloading and sticky spamming is something entirely different (translation: could change core gameplay).
The news broke during tonight's Halo Panel at New York Comic Con 2011 alongside confirmation that theHand "Em High remake, High Noon, will ship with Halo: Anniversary.Comment

Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary Review = 8.0
Closing Comments
A great amount of love and care went into creating Halo Anniversary, and the new graphics engine, while not perfect, is an excellent addition to bring Halo players who missed out on the original ten years ago up to speed. Halo Anniversary’s campaign shortcomings are pretty apparent, but many of the elements that made the original Halo so great are here, from the great story to the tight combat and well-balanced weapons. If you can approach the experience with an open mind and are willing to take a few frustrating old-school design choices, and you’re fine with a ‘best of’ map pack versus a full redo, then this is a great way to bide the time before Halo 4.Comment

Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary Review = 8.0
It seemed like this guys expectations were much higher. If I had one complaint about this package, it's charging $40 for 1 10 year old game where other HD Collections are placing 3 games + extra content for that price. Would of been cool if Halo 2 was also included in an HD remake also.
But I still agree, even at $40, Halo 2 should be there. That being said, even if it was, the only Halo I've ever LOVED was Halo 1. It's the only one I really want to play through again. I've only finished ODST besides Halo 1. Never did finish 2, 3, or Reach.Comment

I agree, but they also seem to be cutting multiplayer from the HD collections, where Halo is including it and advancing it.
