Re: Modern Warfare 3 PS3/360
^ 15:40 is a big reason why I'm sticking with COD and not switching over to Battlefield. 60 FPS is huge for me. I'm glad they have zero intentions of letting off that in the future.
EDIT: Well, I just watched the whole video, and I must say that I am thoroughly impressed. This isn't just MW2, unlike what I and others have said. Sure, it sounds the same and melee kills are the same, but there really is a whole new front to this game that not only promotes balance (I know some people really don't like that term in some ways though), but it also says that a high individual K : D ratio isn't the only thing worth getting, and you earn your XP and upgrades more significantly in other areas of teamwork.
Combine that with the Elite stuff (even the free packages), there really is a lot to like about this upcoming release. Even visually, it is much better. Character movement is ungodly better than anything we've gotten before this, and the lighting/de-saturation really helps the look of the game, IMO. There will be 16 maps out of the box, and some of them look a lot less vertical than MW2, something that a lot of people wanted. I think they just seem to "get it." Even though they are targeting a mass audience, they still listen to their fan bases. As they put it, it's their way of making this game full of "**** realism."Last edited by Blzer; 09-09-2011, 12:40 PM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Yeah, I really like the way they have listened to the fans. I love the fact you can set up custom games with so many options and then share them via facebook.
They are really setting a precedent for the whole FPS genre to follow. I will more than likely get the hardened version.Comment

Treyarch did a much better job of listening to the fans. Sadly they did a much crappier job with the netcode and hit detection.Comment

At best they've done a half-assed job of listening to the fans. If they really cared what the fans think killstreaks wouldn't stack, they'd have done something to curb quick scoping, and death streaks wouldn't exist.

Besides, who really cares about deathstreaks? I'm not playing there like it's a poker game, reading everybody else's hand. If I don't kill them, I don't kill them. I'm not going to complain about it for ages on end, just because some player couldn't get a kill in their last four deaths. And on that end, that frustrated gamer just needs a little boost in confidence so that they won't be so frustrated that they'll throw the controller against the wall after dying so much. IW wants them to stay in the game. Re: Modern Warfare 3 PS3/360
The actual death-streaks are of little or no value (honestly) and more of an increase in luck, if anything else. What I don't agree with is rewarding players for playing poorly. It just seems like the opposite of what should be done.

Re: Modern Warfare 3 PS3/360
It's like when ESPN MLB 2K5 used that confidence meter for hitting (perhaps pitching too, can't remember). There is a fine line between hitting well building up your confidence, and built up confidence improving your hitting. Once your player had a steam of confidence going into an at-bat, it was almost impossible not to get on base. There wasn't any way to create a downfall, per se.
I'm not saying that he should start hitting poorly afterwards, but there is a true law of averages in baseball that comes with the probability that a certain kind of ball in play will be caught, etc. This seemed to outmatch that probability outright, leading to .450 batting averages, if lucky.
I'm just saying... people already rank up, have more weapon attachments and available perks, attain more killstreaks, and are probably already better players, and you want them to be able to have all of this while some casual gamer comes in two weeks after launch, purchases the game, and goes 3-18 on a round since he has nothing to rely on but a basic M4A1 with a red dot sight? He will eventually climb up the ladder, but only after finding a room where not everybody else is dominating. He needs something to help him get up there, otherwise he'll always be stuck on the bottom, probably not wanting to play again. They need incentive to go on after a level of frustration (in this case, four consecutive deaths). Once they get better, deathstreaks will be moot anyway. Besides, it's not like people are intentionally killing themselves four times just so that they can get a deathstreak.
If they changed it to five or six deaths in a row, I'm sure many people won't have any complaints about it. Oh, and Last Stand is gone, in case anybody was wondering.
Meh, I'm merely indifferent. There are worse things to worry about with this game that needs addressing, IMO.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Listening to fans is what you do if you are not highly compensated to be awesome!Comment

I understand that, but then it creates this large unbalance.

To me that is what 1887, Marathon/Lightweight, Noobtoob and Riot Shield were all about.
And they were what made MW2 so awesome!Comment

HEY EVERYONE.
Nice to see a thread in regards to MW3 on this site. I'm scared to be as excited as I am for this game - I'm kind of freaking out, really hoping it plays nothing like MW2 because... I HATED that game.Comment
