Not sure if this has come up before, but here's a question for you all: do you consider sniping as camping? Now down to the barebones of sniping, you do need to find some sort of cover with a good line of sight to be able to pick people off at a distance, although in my mind, that is much different from camping, where people are hidden in a corner with akimbo weapons or an assault rifle/SMG to deliberately get short-distance kills.

I ask this because I was recently branded as a camper by someone on my OWN team. I joined about 1/4 into a TDM at Bakaara and proceeded with my sniping class to the back of the map, where there is a building with 2 entrances and 2 windows overlooking the back and side portion of the map. I set up with my claymore and portable radar and looked for people who may be coming from distance. Unfortunately, only about 3 or 4 people came in my line of sight all game and i went 2-1-0.

This is the interesting part though, as near the end of the game, some guy on my team who was 18-19 came to where I was and started raging on his mic about how I was camping all game long and how I completely suck at sniping because I only had 2 kills and can't even play with a normal weapon. Then he proceeded to shoot his gun to try and get the other team to come and kill me, but luckily none came.

All this got me thinking whether or not I was actually camping, as personally, I don't believe I was, since normally I go back and forth between those 2 windows and run out with my secondary when I see somebody on my portable radar running away from me (patrolling the area, so to speak). So it really made me mad when the guy started raging at me because, first off, he's on my team and didn't know what I was doing all game long, and second, I've seen many other people on that map that sit in a crevasse with an assault rifle and get kills with out ever moving a bit (what I consider to be actual camping).

Sorry for the long post, but I just wanted to get some opinions on what you all thought about this issue. I mean, what use are sniper guns, portable radars, and claymores if your going to be branded as a camper everytime you use them properly?

I don't find it camping and it depends on who you play with. The group of guys I play with we believe in controlling access points into our spawn so that we can keep the enemy in front us and not spawning behind us to get easy kills. When I say I don't mean hiding in a dark corner and hoping somebody run past to get a kill we lock down the map. For example say a map like Resistance if you try to control the top side there is only 3 access points into the spawn. 1. The long steps 2.through the apartment building 3. the long street where the clothing store is. I like to snipe from the clothing store usually I get a far amount of kills from that spot because people like to test my sniping kills but say if I only get 4 kills. I still feel good about what I did because i control 1/3 of a map and helped my team from being flanked. It's "Team" Deathmatch you can't be the superstar every match do your part and just don't lose the game for team. I have a 3.62 win/loss KD and about to be on my 8th Prestige so i get kills also.

To me it doesn't matter what you do with it. If you are using a sniper rifle then I hate you!

Please clarify for me, sorry for the trouble, but what is a 3.62 win/loss KD? Isn't a KD a kill to death ratio, and your win and loss percentage another category?

I also agree with your style of play, and that is what we do also in Team Death match and domination.

Find other players to play with, or tear into him, and let him know how you holding down a area and not being selfish about stats actually helps the team.

This is how my boys and I play. We are assigned areas, and if the enemy goes there or not. Your job is to hold that area down, and if you go down communicate that information to the team. It's called team work and it is a very powerful tool in succeeding.

What system do you play on?

I play on PS3 and about finding other players to play with, I have to mention that I was playing in Mercenary (because that is my friend's mode of choice), so all different types of people come in there. He did leave right after the game ended though, so it was good not having him rip into me for the next 5 games or so

Im on XBOX so we cant hook up. I have a PS3 but I choose to play multiplayer games on the XBOX.

If I am understanding correctly, the 1st DLC mappack won't be available until March for non-elite folks.

Back in the older games when I was living in a dorm we'd get a party of 6 and all of us were in rooms right next to each, some in the same room and do what tyrant said. We didn't need uav because we communicated so well.

Just played a Kill Confirmed game in the Mercenary Gametype. Map was Resistance, worse game of CoD I have ever played. First off it was fine, we were winning and killing them easily then it happened. People started to camp, there were 3-4 people with Strikers inside the middle building with blastshield pro on. Never left the room unless they were killed somehow and even then they had tacticle insertions. Two others were in the room at the end of of were B is in Domination with Duel FMGS and a Striker covering the back of him with the other with a sniper looking sown the alleyway. *shakes head*

Nothing personal..just trying to understand..what do you get from sitting in the clothing store all match long?

Is that fun to you?

I'm just trying to understand the mentality.
