Does a mature rating play a roll in your game selections?
Specifically the things that make a game rated "M". Blood, gore, language, and many other rating descriptors that are unique to the "M" rating.Because I live in van down by the river...Tags: None -
Re: Does a mature rating play a roll in your game selections?
It really depends on the game type. If it is a game where there is some kind of violence or fighting going on, I am discouraged if it is not rated "M". Who wants to play a game where someone who gets stabbed or shot doesn't really bleed.NHL: Vegas Golden Knights
NCAAF: Ohio State
NFL: Minnesota Vikings
MLB: Chicago Cubs -
Re: Does a mature rating play a roll in your game selections?
I think yes and no. Ratings dont really matter to me but when you get a M game you know there are more "stuff" in the game so in a way it makes it better but ratings dont affect if I buy a game or not.MLB: Texas Rangers
Soccer: FC Dallas, Fleetwood Town
NCAA: SMU, UTA
NFL: Dallas Cowboys
NHL: Dallas Stars
NBA: Dallas Mavericks

None at all. Actually the most fun I've had has been games like LBP and The ShowJoshua:

Re: Does a mature rating play a roll in your game selections?
I find myself many times passing over games simply because its not M. I think its a tragedy because I miss out on great games all the time. My philosphy a lot of times is I'm over 18 therefore I want games to appeal to me. Or at least my age group. It got me thinking that a lot games bank on the elements of a mature game to sell a game. The shallowness of games are really evident when you take away those mature elements and the gameplay is rather unremarkable. Not all M games are like this but there are many. I like mature themes just not mature games that come across as immature attempts to sell more copies.Because I live in van down by the river...Comment

Does Fight Night having a mature rating help sell more copies? And are you more likely to buy it now that it does?Because I live in van down by the river...Comment

Re: Does a mature rating play a roll in your game selections?
I think on average, the best games are rated T. I have never really paid any attention to the rating. If everything works within the confines of the game and doesn't stick out like a sore thumb, then the rating isn't a factor.

Not in the slightest. Foolish if you do IMO (unless it's for your kids).Comment

Re: Does a mature rating play a roll in your game selections?
Nope.......Nowadays for the most part games only get rated "M" for cursing a lot. For example: Fight Night Champion
The only reason it is a "M" is because they do over the top cursing in their sound track. Take that cursing out and it will drop to "T".
With the internet, kids nowadays don't flock towards "M" rated games like did say 20 years ago. Mainly because now with the internet they can see way more adult oriented stuff. So the shock value is gone and been gone for at least a decade now.Comment

I don't think I've ever looked at a game's ESRB rating before. though looking at my games now(Xbox 360 games), the sports/racing games are obviously "E". most are "M", but the GRAW games(Ghost Recon) are both "T" and they were still good games. Oblivion was also a "T" rated game.Comment
