Obliviion was M. I agree the shock value is gone. But also the avaiable information out there is outstanding. But does the average gamer do his homework before purchasing games? Or do they look at the box and see rated M for blood gore nudity and language and say I gotta have this?

Re: Does a mature rating play a roll in your game selections?
Well in most places games are locked up nowadays so you really can't just grab them and look at the box. So for the most part people just buy games they heard of before because it is a sequel or they buy a game they seen the commercial for.
That is why games that they really didn't have a lot of commercials don't sale well.Comment

No, I don't care what a game is rated.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

No. I want a good game, could care less on the age rating.Comment

Re: Does a mature rating play a roll in your game selections?
I don't think I've ever looked at a game's ESRB rating before. though looking at my games now(Xbox 360 games), the sports/racing games are obviously "E". most are "M", but the GRAW games(Ghost Recon) are both "T" and they were still good games. Oblivion was also a "T" rated game.
To answer the question, no. If it's a good game, I'll play it whether it's rated E, T, M, whatever. I hardly even pay attention to the ratings anymore.Huskers | Chelsea FC | Minnesota United | OmahaComment

Doesn't effect my purchases, but I suspect almost all of my games would be rated M except for those purchased on XBLA.Comment

I've never once checked a rating for a game I bought for myself. It does influence what I buy my kids however but not my own purchases.
