If you get it at $60 you have to buy 5 new games over 2 years, on top of that you get bonus trade in credit, 10% off used games, if your a my bestbuy member then you also get the $10 rewards certificates for game pre orders. Madden cost me $41.03, NBA 2K15 will cost me $41.03, my next game will cost me $36 and the game after that will cost $41.03 Pretty much every game I get comes with a $10 reward certificate on top of the my bestbuy points which adds up to $5 reward certificates. I paid $60 for this, saved over $20 on Madden, over $20 on NBA 2K15, gonna save $30 on my game after 2K15, and over $20 on the game after that. Thats $90 in savings and I didnt even mention all the games I have already bought with this membership.
It’s easier to do the right thing, than to explain why you didn’t.

It would help me so much if our best buy near me actually had some knowledgeable associates working there and did more midnight releases.

The game stop near me must be one of the few that know what's going on in the gaming industry and know what they are talking about.

With you 1000% on lacking knowledgeable associates. Best Buy nearest me will find a way to screw up a translation no matter how simple the task. For that reason alone I stopped doing the amount of business I once did there. They were my #1 retailer for video games when I had GCU. After GCU expired I stopped find there for the most part.

Having said that I plan to sign up for GCU when it goes on sale again for $60. Hopefully dollars saved are worth the aggravation I am sure to experience.

From the website, I missed the opportunity to buy it for $60 it's now $120 for two years. So yeah if I got it for $60 you'd be right.

The 10% trade in credit and 10% off used games means nothing to me - they can set the base prices to those whatever they want to. 10% off a crappy price more than likely will still be a crappy price. If they were to match other companies trade in/use game prices, then apply the 10%, that would be different.

Just be glad you have stores around you near by. I have to drive to a different state and an hour away just get to a Best Buy or Gamestop. And damn near 2 hours to find a Super Walmart. Needless to say, for me midnight releases are a no go.

I can careless about knowledgeable associates because I already know what I want anyway. Only thing I need them to do is cash me out, don't have to say a word to me. 99% of the time I buy my games from Amazon or digital. I pretty much only go to Best Buy to trade in games, use the Best Buy gift card to buy Amazon gift card.

Obviously I totally agree since I go to the same Best Buy. They are clueless there (Once you actually get someone to talk to)
And yes the Gamestop right there have some of the best employees I've ever dealt with. Very knowledgeable as well as a pleasure to just talk gaming with.

                1. Best Buy consistently has the best trade in prices.
                2. Best Buy has good preowned prices, plus the added benefit of the resurfacing they do which makes all of their product like new.

There is just isn't any argument against the GCU program in favor of going somewhere else.

                  Re: Official Gaming Deals Thread

I've had plenty of better trade in's at GS over Best Buy (and vice versa) as they always fluctuate..
So at different times each can be better than the other.

I can trade my WiiU at GS for 170.00 .. Best Buy? 57.00 for example...
                  PS3: Best Buy 100.00.. GS: 75.00

So again use whatever store gets you the deal at that times. No one is heads and shoulders above the other..

I'm going to maybe get it if I can get it for the 60.00.... no more.

Using coupons and wait for deals (I don't need to buy games left and right any longer) I've saved plenty of money and pay off the 15.00 for the GS card in no time.

Each place can benefit gamers in their own way. I just get more out of GS at this time, with my current buying/trade habits.
Best Buy does seem to offer more for newer games(When there's no bonuses going on) but as the games get older they seem to even out and most times GS is better.

Yeah, who really cares about knowledgeable employees at this point? There's this thing called the INTERNET, and forums, just like this one, to provide all the information you need about any game imaginable.

We're talking about going in and they have zero clue about the promotions THEY are supposed to be doing but have zero idea about. I shouldn't have to inform them of their own stuff.
I think most in here know more about the games themselves that any store....

Like I said I'll deal with whatever place gives me the best deal at the time. Could care less which place that is.

Not knowing about your own promotions is inexcusable. But guess what? There's a site called cheapass gamer.com that give you all the information you need about that stuff.
It's no secret that these big box retailers hire employees at cheap pay and don't educate them. Educate YOURSELF, take advantage of the deals and stop crying.
And speaking of educating yourself, it's I COULDN'T CARE LESS, not I could.

And I have that site as a favorite...so again a pointless reply as I still shouldn't have to tell stores about their promotions. No where was I "crying" and simply stated my thoughts on stores and their lack of knowing their job.

There is just isn't any argument against the GCU program in favor of going somewhere else.
The argument is $120 is a steep entry point. Fantastic that guys got it at $60 or $30 as the required commitment there is worth it without much effort. But the price as things stand is $120.

And to Skyboxer's point, the issue isn't whether you the shopper know the promos, its getting the associates who 1) know the promo 2) know how to ring up the promo.

                                Re: Official Gaming Deals Thread

both of you have very good points. but I agree with Skyboxer, but I shouldn't have to tell you about your own damn deal. especially when most of this time it's in the weekly ad.

a month ago, I took advantage of the Destiny trade in at Target where you got 20 bucks for certain games ( I traded in NBA 2k14 and Assassin's Creed Black Flag). I had to literally tell this dude how to turn on the $20 offers and where to go on the computer to do it. He didn't even know where the video games tab was to find the two games on the list.

luckily he was nice enough to actually listen to me and let me guide him. because most of the time when you have to tell them about their own offer, they won't listen to you because they think you're trying to cheat them or something so they will just tell you whatever deal you're looking for is not on right now. and that pisses you off even more. yes sometimes you just call a manager over and the problem will be settled but that's not always the case.
Plus have to think about there are plenty of parents who are getting games for kids who don't know about this stuff like that and are missing out on these deals on stuff.

                                Sincerely, Blackheart

Man there are no flashers... now what are we going to do for vd
I'm sure there's plenty of prostitutes you could pay if you really want vd.
yea but will they take psn cards
Depends on what area of a hooker you would use to redeem them.

                                lol
