Playing a lot more DayZ and realized that I actually hadn't purchased Arma 3 so I pulled the trigger. Been ages since I have played a non DayZ ARMA so looking forward to it.

I been playing online in ARMA 3 for the first time in a looooong time. I like the game, but it is not the simulation ARMA 2 was. Something is different about it I can't put my finger on.

I need to zero out my hard drive and do a fresh install of windows 7 on my PC. My PC has been running terrible lately. Which makes playing the game frustrating.

Just started it up for the first time and twice got stuck (as in couldn't move) Hmm, don't know why that was happening. I bought ARMA 2 on launch day and wow, that was buggy so aside from being frozen twice it runs great on my system.

How is the campaign? I see the second chapter was just released.

I have not tried it been running in the 7th Cav tact realism servers online.

Me to long time ago back when the original COD 4 Modern warfare was on PC and we ran the tact realism mod.

So whats the secret to getting non-dog**** FPS while in MP? Getting easily 80 (ultra settings)on SP to only get tops of 30 while on any server.

Apparently its on the server's end rather than personal specs to determine how well the game will run.

I have a sneaking suspicion that server hosts are using too high of a setting like draw distance.

Maybe So, but its hard for me to gauge because im getting ****ty frame rates in single player also. My damn PC needs a over haul. Writing zeros to hard drive and reinstalling OS would help for sure, I'm just dreading doing it, I hate going back out and get all the drivers, reinstalling everything, etc. Sucks because I'd like to get some more game time with it, its just running to up and down for me to enjoy it.

The optimization is a bit better going from Arma 2 to 3 so that's atleast a good sign. I'm getting way more frames in Arma 3 at higher settings than Arma 2 with lower settings.

Have you tried editing the ini file? I remember in arma 2 it made a drastic difference. I'm wondering if there is a separate setting for MP settings in the ini.

Yep, I've tried that also. The most common opinion is that its server side causing the restriction or lack of frames. There are so many others out there who are capped at 30 FPS regardless of what settings are applied, which is really dumb in 2014 to force that on an entire server.

I'm a complete noob at ARMA so this is a completely new experience for me. Game is incredible. On my rig, it looks and runs amazing.

AA, I suggest checking out the 7th cav realism servers online. No mods needed but great large scale simulation.
