After perusing this thread Phobia, you seem like the veteran around here, at least in terms of being outspoken. As a complete noob to the series yet patient/adaptive gamer, if you could, what tips would you have for a first-timer?

Edit: I'm just talking basics. Maybe certain things native to ArmA that is not common knowledge. Surely don't have to write me a book, but would appreciate anything you offer.

                  Re: ARMA III

Just played a quick few missions. Also its just the Alpha

1st: I autodetected to Very High and its a very beautiful game

Infantry: AI has the same crazy skills of seeing you and dropping you from a long range. My team responded well but at one point a squad guy just stood in the open and took fire from his left and not once did he take cover or go prone. Also the AI was able to spot you through heavy brush and drop you. Having a firefight with a red dot at 200m is just silly.

Scuba: Very nice and easy to move around and you can use Z/X to go up and down in place rather then swimming forward to go up or down. You must be still in order to reload, so if you have an underwater gun fight get cover before reloading.

                  Its fun and tough

The enemy AI seeing through cover and over long distances has affected every single ARMA but has also been corrected in every single ARMA after patches.

Like I mentioned several posts ago, I highly suggest people wait for the first couple patches before purchasing the game. They are known for these issues. While a fantastic game once it is balanced, it takes couple patches for them to do this normally.

I'm tempted to get it BUT with the release of Tomb Raider and Sim City I think I won't have much time to get to play this....then next week the Heart of the Swarm is released as well as GOW....man March is a really expensive month....

Will be getting this tonight maybe, really looking forward to ARMA III, almost more than the DayZ standalone.

Phobia, me and my friends are on regulary and have the intention of buying ARMA III if you ever feel lonely.

On the subject of the standalone, do you ever play DayZ Phobia or are you just ARMA? Me and my group have been playing this DayZ origins lately, it might actually be better than the standalone itself!

I mainly play default Arma in the 7th cav servers.

Now when I just wrote zeros to my hard drive and reinstalled everything I lost DayZ because of that.

I didn't feel like reinstalling the mod installer and that whole deal so I just grabbed the steam version of DayZ, there is MAYBE 3 or 4 servers up that use this version.

I don't play it very often, I got bored with it after couple months playing it nonstop. I find more action, drama, and fun in default ARMA to be honest.

If you want to join me on some 7th cav let me know and we can go kick some ***.

P.S. woooow ARMA 3 is going to be amazing!!!!!

Driving it so much better in Arma 3, and I also love the new stance mod key but I need dust off the ol joystick before I fly again. Had a nice co-op with a buddy last night, about two hours of laughing and dying. The new inventory screen is so much better, you just click on your top to see what you carry on person, then the backpack of coarse and just move things around.
