I just wrapped up the first one and all I can say is, this game is fantastic and should NOT be missed for those that have a PS3.

Loved every minute of it and I'm certainly looking forward to 2 & 3.

One other thing, Daxter is ****ing hilarious!

Can anyone compared this collection with the Sly collection? I'd like to pick up one of them for my kids who like Mario and Rayman.

Love Sly but Jak and Daxter (IMO) would be a better suit for your kids - the writing/humor is great and I'm sure they'll get a kick out of it.

I agree, J&D is the way to go. More fun platforming and the vehicle sections.

I just have the final level left on the first J&D. The game has been great, enjoyed pretty much every level other than the snow level. The snow would have been fine if the slowdown wasn't so bad. I guess all the snow falling was too much to handle, although I'm surprised they couldn't fix that given this is a HD remake.

I love the first Jak and Daxter, but the second one is not that great imo for many reasons. They really took what was great in the first game like the pure platforming and placed it into a GTA world. There are literally no checkpoints in many of the sections of the platforming parts. So you could be towards the end, die and then have to restart all over again to the beginning of that section. Now that is irritating. Some of the shoddy platforming of the first game were fixed up which is a good thing.

For Rudy, personally, I would go with the Sly Collection for your kids. I think Sly 1 and 2 are much easier games for kids when compared to the first Jak and Daxter and especially Jak 2. The key here is that if your trying to decide between both for your kids, go with Sly Collection even though I like Sly least of the PS platformers. Like Brett says, Jak & Daxter are comedy gold even though its all coming from Dax. It comes down to what is easier for you kids to enjoy. The first two Sly games are just easier to play for them.

To me it breaks down to this:

                      1. Ratchet & Clank
                      2. Jak & Daxter
                      3. Sly Cooper

Finally starting up Jak 3 - took a break after completing the first two (also to play some other games) so hopefully I can put a solid dent in this before Max Payne 3 hits.

I started Jak II last night and I see what you mean about the checkpoints. First impression of Jak II is that it won't be as good as the original, but it was still fun for the first hour I played it.

Jak II is the kind of game that can make someone want to quit gaming it's so hard in many sections.

Alright, I'm not playing Jak II anymore, I hate it. I gave it 5 miserable hours, that's about all I can take. I liked the first one so much, probably because it was a straight platformer. Jak II added all that cool stuff that I usually love in open world type games, but this game just isn't right for me for some reason because I don't like getting around in the open world at all.

Part of it might be because I'm in a gaming funk. I really just want to play a sports game right now I think, but I'm not getting NCAA, if I did The Show I want to wait until after the trade deadline to start up a new franchise (simming to the deadline). Hurry Madden!
