    The Amazing Spider-Man

NYCC 2011: MARVEL Announces SPIDER-MAN Movie Game

Finally, Doug Heder from Activision and Gerard Lehiany from Beenox announced that they are developing a game to coincide with the movie The Amazing Spider-Man. The game returns to the open world style of prior Spidey games. A trailer showed that off quite a bit, as well as a massive robotic enemy. It drew huge applause, and they even played it a second time for the fans.

A brief discussion on how the game development process in working with Marvel followed, with developers noting how the characters are rich, and they're able to each do their own takes on the same characters, while still allowing them to feel like the ones from the comics. They all said how much they love that their jobs give them an excuse to read comics on a regular basis.

The highlight of the fan Q&A was Amazing Spider-Man comic book writer Dan Slott coming to the mic to ask a couple of questions. He asked the Beenox team if there will be alternate suits, which they said they can't answer yet.

    Shacknews

Doug Heder, producer at Activision, admitted that Beenox's track record has been mixed. Their last release, Edge of Time, currently has a Metacritic of 60. However, he promised that Amazing would find a different fate, thanks to its lengthy development time.

Gerard Lehiany, creative director of Beenox, says that the game has been in development for over a year so far. Beenox has two teams, with the Amazing team having worked separately from the Edge of Time and Shattered Dimensions team.

The trailer definitely earned high praise from fans, who were enthusiastic about Spider-Man's return to New York City and open-world gameplay. In the real-time trailer, we saw glimpses of Peter Parker jumping off buildings, swinging through the city. The "realistic" look is a stark departure from Beenox's previous two Spider-Man games.

According to Heder, the game serves as a continuation of the movie's story. The game is pegged for a "Summer 2012" release, likely near the movie's July 3, 2012 date.

I really hope that they've gone back to the Spider-man 2/ultimate Spider-man structure instead of this linear **** they've been doing.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

I still can't believe the movie is going to try and compete with The Dark Knight Rises. They either come out on the same day or within a week or two of eachother.

Spiderman comes out the 3rd of July, Batman the 20th.

If this game is close to Spiderman 2, I'll play it. Closer to the rest of the games and I'll pass like always.

I hope there's a way to play with the classic attire because I don't like the new suit at all.

If Batman: Arkham City is an indication of the future of DLC, I'm sure there will be plenty of pre-order deals with alternate skins.

I really hope this game turns out to be good

Any Spider-man game is a play for me so I'm already sold.

Hopefully this is finally "the" Spider-Man game, but I doubt it will be. I'll definitely end up playing it but right now my expectations are low.

And I still don't like that damn suit.

I enjoyed the first one. It was fun. The second one had potential, but bogged itself down. I still enjoy the N64 Spiderman games.

Ultimate Spiderman was the coldest spiderman title ever developed my friends. Cel shaded to make it feel like you were playing straight out of the comics, open world, smorgasbord of villains (and some hero assists too!), and just an overall great game.

Yet no one mentions making a new one. Developers can be a weird lot if ya ask me.

I'll check this out but I dont think its going to be good.

Will be a definite buy for me, Loved Shattered Dimensions and still to work my way through Web of Shadows and Edge of Time which i have sitting there.

                            Looking forward to this.

I get mad every time a new Spiderman game is announced that isn't a sequel to Ultimate Spiderman. I loved that game.
